Hackers, those crazy Utopian dreamers with DIY attitudes, have begun a sustained assault on government with projects like the Sunlight Foundation, OpenCongress, GovTrack, Watchdog.net, FedSpending, MySociety, and Public.Resource. With insider stories from three years of living in DC and helping to visualize earmarks on Google maps and create APIs for government spending, this hacker explains why the tipping point has already occurred and what comes next with the transparency movement. Presented by Greg Elin, Chief Evangelist for the Sunlight Foundation, at O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference 2009
When the next 3 billion join social mediaHootsuite
Thanks to the proliferation of mobile devices and projects like Facebook’s Internet.org, access to the social web is expanding rapidly. Another 3 billion people will be able to get online by the end of 2018. This SXSW 2016 panel is all about how they’ll change social media—and be changed by it.
The Presentation is about :
- Google Inc
- China Inc
What happened to Google in China story?
This Presentation is done as a part of MBA class assessment in 2010.
In this report, we set ourselves a goal to reimagine the concept of “Phygital” and introduce a fresh look at the very fundamentals of “Phygital”. According to LETA Capital and DEVAR, Phygital is not only a set of technologies that enhances the physical reality around us but also augments digital offering with the offline components, making them work together to give the best user experience that both worlds can offer.
In this first report, we highlighted Phygital use-cases, vendors, and clients who already implemented Phygital technologies in Construction, Retail, and Healthcare among other areas. We also allow readers to try out Phygital themselves using the smartphone camera and a WebAR technology showcasing some of the real-life examples of Phygital.
We appreciate all inputs, feedback, and any additional use-cases to make the best coverage of the state of Phygital in the future.
If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to contact Alexander Zemlyak via email azemlyak@leta.vc.
In this issue of TOP TEN we provide the reader with a wealth of information related to current and future usages of BIG DATA. The reader will get an insight into usages in the realm of education, health, construction, management as well as marketing.

Google in China presentation by pankajPankaj Joshi
I made this presentation during my MBA days. The purpose of making this presentation was to explain the issues arose when google announced its decision of leaving China. Due to censorship issues. This presentation compares the current situation of that time with future forecasting. Although things are changed right now but this presentation can help people to learn what happened then, and how things got favorable for other search engines and how google tackled the situation. This is based upon the secondary data available in journals, internet.
Ten years of opendata: what has happened and what is there to doMaurizio Napolitano
The open (government) data movement had its birth with the “Transparency and open government” memorandum of former US president Obama in 2009. Many open data initiatives were born from here. The premises of these projects have been linked to concepts such as open government (participation, transparency and collaboration) and economic growth (a 2013 report by McKinsey estimated $ 3 trillion of potential economic value).
Now, 10 years later, it is right to ask what happened.
If we look at its totality, the open data movement has not yet met these expectations. Despite this scenario, we can collect many success stories, and by looking at the common points between them, we can trace what really happened and how much there is still to do.
Open data still a great opportunity and the openness movement has to been continue fighting.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
