In the "50/50 conference: Incentivising and empowering users to save energy in schools and public buildings", this presentation shows how a local government can implement good practices to save energy through Euronet 50/50 metodology.
5. 5
65% of energy consumption corresponds to municipal
buildings, that represents 65% of the total budget
Energy detail consumption (Annual report 2012)
6. 6
Schools represent the main energy consumption, 34%
followed by sports facilities, 31%

BUT… No investment capacity
We need to save
ENERGY & GHG
MONEY
SO… We need to CHANGE BEHAVIOURS HABITS
9. 9
Euronet, a good tool to municipalities
Easy methodology to achieve savings in energy
Closer collaboration between local authority and
users of the municipal buildings
Involve municipal workers from different
departments in the savings
Become an example for the citizenship
Share experiences with other municipalities
Contribute to achieve our energy and climate
change commitments
10. 10
Provide data about the
school consumption on fuel
and electricity

Local government role
11. 11
Take part in the energy tour
Sign a collaboration agreement with
the school
Return to the school 50% of
achieved savings
12. 12
Disseminate the methodology to other schools
and citizens of the municipality
20. 20
First inputs in sports facilities to consider:
Electricity consumption is higher than fuel consumption
(except in swimming pools)
In some of the buildings, there are more than one club
playing (difficult to distribute consumptions & savings)
Involvement of Sports Municipal Department
It is more difficult to implement energy use awareness
in a sporting environment than in schools, BUT…
Sport people are used to work in team and Euronet is a
teamwork!
