What is career ?
• An occupation undertaken for a significant
period of a person's life and with
opportunities for progress.
• Move swiftly and in an uncontrolled way.
• Example:-A career of
Doctor,Engineer,Teachers,Libranian,Pilot etc.
• We can also say that the cleaning that 4th
class people do is also their career.
Career Choices After Picking The PCB
Stream:-
• Post 10th standard, all of us arrive at
a crossroad, where we need to choose a
stream that will determine our profession
and eventually, the rest of our lives. While
many of us choose Physics, Chemistry, and
Maths (PCM), there are many who choose
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) and
pursue a profession in the medical field.
• In this article, we’ve listed the different possible
career options if you have opted for PCB. To
begin with, here is an exhaustive list of all the
options available to you:-
• MBBS – Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
Surgery
• BHMS – Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and
Surgery
• BAMS – Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and
Surgery
• BUMS – Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery
• BDS – Bachelor of Dental Surgery
• B Sc AH (Animal Husbandry) Bachelor of
Veterinary Sciences
But unlike engineering, the medical field
offers several options to students. Choosing
the right course after 12th is extremely
important because a well-thought-
out decision can lead to a rewarding career or
may become a basis for the post graduation
course. It is difficult to pick one because
there are so many good options, which have
a good scope but we do not know which is
appropriate for us.
• B Sc – Bachelor of Science
• B Sc Microbiology – Bachelor of Science in Microbiology
• B Sc Biotechnology – Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology
• B Sc Bio Chemistry – Bachelor of Science in Bio Chemistry
• B Sc – Nursing
• B PT – Bachelor in Physio Therapy
• B Pharm – Bachelor in Pharmacy
• B Sc Agriculture – Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
• B Sc Horticulture – Bachelor of Science in Horticulture
• B Sc Environmental Science – Bachelor of Science in
Environmental Science
• B F Sc – Bachelor in Fisheries Sciences
• B Sc MLT – Bachelor in Medical Technology
• B Sc Occupational Therapists
• B Sc Audiology
• B Sc Speech and Language Pathology
• B Sc Radiography
• B Sc Rehabilitation Therapy
• B Sc Food Technology
• B Sc Nutrition and Dietetics
• B Sc Botany
• B Sc Zoology
• B Sc Anthropology
• B Sc Home Science
• Subjects such as physics, chemistry and
biology (PCB) are required for students
aspiring to take up careers in medicine
or dental studies, biochemistry,
biotechnology, microbiology, agricultural and
dairy science. Options are also available in
the paramedical and allied fields such as
Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational
Therapy, Audiology, Speech Therapy, Medical
Lab Technology, Optometry, Nutrition and
Dietetics, Pharmacy etc.
• Those interested in Animal Husbandry and
Veterinary Science can take up a career as a
veterinary doctor. For that, they have to
appear for the entrance examination
conducted by Veterinary Council of India for
getting admission to first year Bachelor of
Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
• Those with +2 science Bio-maths can take up
either an engineering or a medical career.
Admission to these professional courses is
through entrance examinations.
• If not interested in engineering and medical
field, 10+2 science students can go for B.Sc.
(Bachelor of Science) program of their choice,
which can be followed by Master’s degree
(M.Sc.), Ph.D and M.Phil. Teaching is another
option.
• Let’s look at the most popular career
choices of students who’ve opted for PCB:
Medicine:-
• The most common career choice for students opting
for PCB stream is to become a doctor. The first
requirement is to clear NEET and/or the state medical
entrance exams and secure a seat in a medical
college. The undergraduate programs – MBBS
(Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery),
BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)
and BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and
Surgery) are of 5 years. Upon completion, the student
can opt for postgraduate studies for specialization.
Read our article Pursuing Medicine: Career and
Lifestyle to get the real picture.
Dentistry:-
• Dentistry is a branch of medicine that
specifically deals with the oral cavity. The
first requirement is to clear NEET and/or the
state medical entrance exams and secure a
seat in a medical college. The undergraduate
programs BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is
of 5 years. Upon completion, the student can
opt for postgraduate studies for
specialization.
Pharmacy:-
• Pharmacists/chemists/druggists are
healthcare professionals who practice in
pharmacy, the field of health sciences
focusing on safe and effective medication
use. The student must obtain a B. Pharm
(Bachelor of Pharmacy) degree at a pharmacy
school or related institution.
Biological Sciences:-
• Biological Sciences deal with the study of
living things and encompasses topics such as
Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Evolutionary
Biology, and Ecology. A student can embark
on a professional, scientific or technical
career after graduating. They can also opt for
further studies such as a research doctorate
or a postgraduate course in an applied field.
Biomedical Engineering:-
• Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the
application of engineering principles and
design concepts to medicine and biology for
healthcare purposes. Students who wish to
pursue this field must have a Master’s (M.S.,
M. Tech, M.S.E., or M. Eng.) or a Doctoral
(Ph.D.) degree in BME (Biomedical
Engineering) or another branch of
engineering with considerable potential for
BME overlap.
Nursing:-
• Nursing is a profession within the health care
sector that focuses on the care of patients. A
student has to obtain a BSN (Bachelor of
Science in Nursing), a four-year
undergraduate degree. Advanced education
at the graduate level is for specialization as
an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN)
or for advanced roles in leadership,
management, or education.
Biotechnology:-
• Biotechnology is the use of living systems and
organisms to develop or modify products. A
student may opt for a B. Tech. Degree and
then pursue further studies in health care
(medical), Crop Production and Agriculture,
nonfood (industrial) uses of crops,
environmental uses, etc.
Physiotherapy:-
• Physiotherapy is a physical medicine and
rehabilitation specialty using mechanical
force and movements. A student has to
obtain an undergraduate degree, Bachelor of
Physiotherapy and can then opt for
specialization in Cardiovascular & Pulmonary
Physiotherapy, Clinical Electrophysiology,
Geriatric, Integumentary, Neurological,
Orthopedic, Pediatric, Sports, Women’s
Health or Palliative Care.
Virologist:-
• Virology is the study of viruses and virus-like
agents, including (but not limited to) their
taxonomy, disease-producing properties,
cultivation and genetics. It is often
considered a part of microbiology or
pathology. In the early years this discipline
was dependent upon advances in the
chemical and physical sciences, but viruses
soon became tools for probing basic
biochemical processes of cells.
• Viruses have traditionally been viewed in a
rather negative context as agents responsible
for disease that must be controlled or
eliminated. However, viruses also have
certain beneficial properties that can be
exploited for useful purposes (for example in
gene therapy or vaccinology).
Now The Next And The Most
Important Career That I Had Choose
Is:-
• Virologist:-I choose my career as a
“Virologist” other than a “Child Specialist
Doctor” because this profession is rare and it
is in demand in the India,Foreign and other
places and this work is also very technical
and found to be interest in such kind of
technical things. Some picture and analysis of
