Assmang Limited’s Beeshoek Iron Ore Mine, situated approximately 7
kilometres west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape (+/- 200km west from
Kimberley), requires the services of a:
PROCUREMENT CLERK
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12;
• Procurement or Purchasing certificate will be an advantage;
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
• One year experience in a purchasing or expediting environment;
• Valid Code B/EB driver licence.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge of Purchasing procedures;
• Working knowledge of purchasing procedures and processes, general purchasing conditions and vendor
processes;
• Communication Skills (Verbal and written communication for business conditions);
• Computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word;
• Computer literacy JD Edwards will serve as an added advantage;
• Analysing and trend analysing skills;
• Problem solving skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Filing of orders and contracts and purchasing of low value items;
• Receiving expediting report and compiling and distributing expediting letters to supplier;
• Updating purchase orders with amended date and communicate feedback and order status with
originator;
• Receiving and communicating late deliveries of suppliers to order originator, validating reason for late
delivery or any other deviation and negotiating new delivery date between originator and supplier and
updating the procurement (JDE) system;
• Communicating non-conformance or response on expediting letter, contacting supplier senior negotiator
and obtaining commitment from supplier;
• Recommending corrective action to originator and negotiating new acceptable date with supplier;
• Reporting non-performing suppliers to relevant line manager;
• Relieving buyers when necessary and performing all duties associated with the role;
• Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time.
Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and
Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Medical Fitness to
work on a Mine. He/she may also undergo a Psychometric assessment.
The abovementioned position is B4 on the Patterson grading system. The successful candidate that conforms
to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. Should the successful candidate
not conform with all said requirements and experience, but is nonetheless regarded as suitable for
appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful
achievement of required competencies and skills.
