Physical and Chemical
Changes
SUBMITTED BY – SIMRANJIT SINGH
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to :
1. Explain What is Physical and Chemical changes .
2.Differentiate between physical and Chemical changes .
3. Give Examples of Physical and Chemical changes.
Matter undergoes two types of changes
..
PHYSICAL CHANGE
CHEMICAL CHANGES .
Physical change
Physical change is a type of change where the physical
properties of matter change. A change of state of matter,
change in colour, odour, solubility, etc. all are examples of
physical change. During a physical change, neither the
composition nor the chemical nature of matter is changed.
Changes are reversible.
Example of Physical change
Melting of ice
Example of Physical change
Blowing of a balloon
CHEMICAL Change
A chemical change is a change of materials into another, new
materials with different properties and one or more than one new
substances are formed. It results when a substance combines
with another to form a new substance.
Changes are irreversible
Examples of Chemical changes
Ripening of fruits and Vegetables
SUMMARY
Evaluation
Identify which of the two images show Physical and Chemical changes.
Give two another Examples for each case .
