Beau Evans – Unit Plan Presentation This unit consists of geometry and how it is related to the real world by means of technology and real life problems. Besides being based on technology, students will be able to take part in hands on activities and make a bulletin board as a collaborative project. Some of the technology we are going to use are shown over on the right of this slide. Students will also be evaluated by worksheets and response system questions.
The first worksheet the students will receive is about lines of symmetry. It will be done as homework. This is pretty much the only one they have to do for homework. The next worksheet is on area vs. volume. They will be doing this handout as a collaborative grade. Lastly, the final worksheet they will have is a Unit Review worksheet with a survey at the top and questions on the bottom to review before the test.
Collaborative Project Guidelines and Sample The project students will do consists of 7 to 8 students in a group. The theme of the project is to make a bulletin board that can be interactive if they choose. The topic the students pick from is a geometry problem in the real world (ex. Bridge Construction.) Each group will write what they need for the project. They will have a couple of class periods to finish the project. They will also have time during any other free time in class. This is the example I used for the students to base their projects off of.
