As the global population ages, new technologies are being developed to help older adults cope with cognitive decline and maintain independence. While older adults are increasingly using technology, they often have more difficulty learning and operating it compared to younger people. However, the constant mental stimulation required to use modern communication and information technologies may be making people's brains sharper and younger as they age. Adopting new habits with technology can help overcome cognitive decline, but forming new habits is challenging due to existing neural pathways. Reading regularly is one way for older adults to build mental skills and potentially ward off diseases like Alzheimer's.
