• The Internet is an unstoppable flow of data.
• It now works against central control.
• Political content is now easily accessed and
used as a “toolbox for protest”.

3. The Internet
– Origins of the internet date back to the cold
war.
– Two computer scientists; Vince Cerf & Bob
Kahn, found ways to connect all aspects of
the web and make communication accessible
and to be known as what we call the internet.
– Can also be referred to as a global network
of networks.

4. Social Networking
– An internet sensation that helps people connect and stay
in touch with eachother in new way.
– Twitter is a social media network that began in
2006 in San Francisco.
Allows friends and followers to “tweet” at eachother.
Tweets are 140 character messages that are posted
to friends and followers to see.
