ASSIGNMENT
DRIVE SPRING 2014
PROGRAM Bachelor of Business Administration- BBA
SUBJECT CODE & NAME BBA601-TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT
SEMESTER 6
BK ID B1894
CREDITS 4
MARKS 60
Note: Answer all questions. Kindly note that answers for 10 marks questions should be
approximately of 400 words. Each question is followed by evaluation scheme.
1.Define any one definition of Technology. Explain the concept of technology in brief.
Answer : Definition of Technology
“Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means
and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as
industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.”
Technology can be most broadly defined as the entities, both material and immaterial, created by
the application of mental and physical effort in order to achieve some value. In this usage,
technology refers to tools and machines that may be used to solve real-world problems. It is a far-
reaching term that may include simple tools, such as a crowbar or wooden spoon, or more complex
machines, such as a space station or particle
2.List and explain the effects of technology on various human need factors
Answer : Technology has changed the way we as humans live; it changes our understanding of the
way things work and changes the way we interact with one another. Technology was once opposed
but is now somewhat welcomed into our homes. During the renaissance period, technology was
opposed, as the church believed that technology would oppose the beliefs of god. Well they were
right. Technology isn’t just computers or TV’s, its engineering science. And in Science, our goal is to
progress and understand everything
3.Differentiate between exploratory and normative methods of forecasting.
Answer : Exploratory methods begin from the present, and see where events and trends might take
us; normative methods begin from the future, asking what trends and events would take us there.
A fundamental distinction in futures and forecasting studies is commonly drawn between
exploratory and normative methods. This terminology is well-established, but rather misleading
(since both approaches involve exploration, of course
4.Describe the process of Technology assessment and evaluation with a neat diagram
Answer : We are living in the digital revolution and, much like the industrial revolution, progress is
truly exponential. We hear about a new smartphone, new app, new technology every single day.
With so many new technologies on the market, how do you sort through the irrelevant and the
junk? There are some amazing things out there you could be missing… but other “technologies” just
turn out to be a waste of time.
CHECKLIST :
Bottom-Line Performance President Sharon Boller developed Technology Evaluation Checklist for
herself to help the company make smarter
5.Briefly explain the government initiative for technology transfer in India.
Answer : Technology Transfer is the intersection between business, science, engineering, law and
government ...
Technology transfer is the process by which basic science research and fundamental discoveries are
developed into practical and commercially relevant applications and products. Technology Transfer
personnel evaluate and manage invention portfolios, oversee patent prosecution, negotiate
licensing agreements and periodically review cooperative research agreements already in place. Part
of the technology transfer process involves the prosecution of patents which is overseen by the
national Patent and Trademark Office.
6 Write note on
a. Moore’s Law
Answer : Moore’s Law is a computing term which originated around 1970; the simplified version of
this law states that processor speeds, or overall processing power for computers will double every
two years. A quick check among technicians in different computer companies shows that the term is
not very popular but the rule is still accepted.
To break down the law even further, it specifically stated that the number of transistors on an
affordable CPU would double every two years (which is essentially the same thing that was stated
before) but ‘more transistors’ is more accurate.
b. Innovation Performance
Answer : It is not an easy job to achieve the level of consistent innovation expected within any
organization. Often those breakthroughs never seem to be repeated, we struggle to understand the
reasons why we can’t achieve that regular rhythm or dependable outcomes from the innovation
portfolio, that we would have expected or the board demands.
If you ever look at high performance in sport it is in the
