basu = Bus

バス
hikouki = Plane

飛行機               (3 kanji: fly + go + machinery)
Types of transport

jitensha = Bicycle     自転車
(3 kanji: self + roll + car)


kuruma = Car       車
takushi- = Taxi    タクシー
fune = Boat       船
Grammar - direction of travel particle
Add the particle E to the place
  Another annoyance – the HE symbol is used!

Example:
rondon e ikimasu. Go to London



ロンドンへ行きます
。
Grammar - by mode of transport particle

Add the particle DE to the mode of transport

Example:
densha de rondon e ikimasu.

Go to London by train.


電車で ロンドンへ 行きます

Sentences with transport
watashi wa kyou jitensha de uchi e kaerimasu.

Today I am returning home by bicycle.


私は今日自転車で家へ帰ります。


 uchi = home
 kaerimasu = polite form of the verb to return

Tomorrow I am going to work by car.


私は明日車で会社へ行きます。

  kaisha = company (where you work)
  (2 kanji: meet + company)

Yesterday I came to England by plane.


私は昨日飛行機でイギリスへ来まし

  igirisu = England
  kimashita = past polite form of the verb to come

駅はどこですか。
  eki = train station
  doko = where

basu noriba wa doko desu ka.

バス乗場はどこですか。
noriba = getting on place (2 kanji: ride + place)

takushi- noriba wa doko desu ka.

Where is the taxi rank?


タクシー乗場はどこですか
。

asoko desu.

Over there



あそこです。
 asoko = over there (near nobody)

ginkou no tonari desu.

銀行の隣です。
 ginkou = bank (2 kanji: bank + row)
 tonari = next to

  • 4. Types of transport densha = Train 電車 (2 kanji: electricity + car) basu = Bus バス hikouki = Plane 飛行機 (3 kanji: fly + go + machinery)
  • 5. Types of transport jitensha = Bicycle 自転車 (3 kanji: self + roll + car) kuruma = Car 車 takushi- = Taxi タクシー fune = Boat 船
  • 6. Grammar - direction of travel particle Add the particle E to the place Another annoyance – the HE symbol is used! Example: rondon e ikimasu. Go to London ロンドンへ行きます 。
  • 7. Grammar - by mode of transport particle Add the particle DE to the mode of transport Example: densha de rondon e ikimasu. Go to London by train. 電車で ロンドンへ 行きます 。
  • 8. Sentences with transport watashi wa kyou jitensha de uchi e kaerimasu. Today I am returning home by bicycle. 私は今日自転車で家へ帰ります。 uchi = home kaerimasu = polite form of the verb to return
  • 9. Sentences with transport watashi wa ashita kuruma de kaisha e ikimasu. Tomorrow I am going to work by car. 私は明日車で会社へ行きます。 kaisha = company (where you work) (2 kanji: meet + company)
  • 10. Sentences with transport watashi wa kinou hikouki de igirisu e kimashita. Yesterday I came to England by plane. 私は昨日飛行機でイギリスへ来まし た。 igirisu = England kimashita = past polite form of the verb to come
  • 11. Finding the way - questions eki wa doko desu ka. Where is the train station? 駅はどこですか。 eki = train station doko = where
  • 12. Finding the way - questions basu noriba wa doko desu ka. Where is the bus stop? バス乗場はどこですか。 noriba = getting on place (2 kanji: ride + place)
  • 13. Finding the way - questions takushi- noriba wa doko desu ka. Where is the taxi rank? タクシー乗場はどこですか 。
  • 14. Finding the way - sample replies asoko desu. Over there あそこです。 asoko = over there (near nobody)
  • 15. Finding the way - sample replies ginkou no tonari desu. Next to the bank. 銀行の隣です。 ginkou = bank (2 kanji: bank + row) tonari = next to
  • 16. Finding the way - sample replies kouen no mae desu. In front of the park. 公園の前です。 kouen = park (2 kanji: public + garden) mae = in front of
  • 17. Finding the way - sample replies yuubinkyoku no ushiro desu. Behind the post office 郵便局の後ろです。 yuubinkyoku = post office (3 kanji: mail + a service + bureau)
