This presentation introduced RoomWare and AnyWhere, two open source projects that aim to make buildings and spaces more interactive. RoomWare would allow spaces to be aware of people within them and present location-based information and services. AnyWhere would let users bookmark locations, objects, and events to remember their experiences. The projects seek to connect people to each other and their environments by recording and sharing experiences.
In this era of COVID, we’ve been spending a lot of time discussing how to stream meetings/services to remote participants. When social distancing restrictions are lifted we’re likely to have both local (in-room) participants as well as remote participants. If all we’re doing is broadcasting (1-way), this is no problem. But what if you want interactivity? How do you include remote participants in an interactive large class, workshop or church service?
Tips for online services & spiritual sharing sessionsPaul Richards
It’s time for episode three of our new interactive live show helping churches communicate in the era of COVID. Today we are discussing tips for hosting online services & Spiritual Sharing Sessions using Zoom video conferencing. Following up on our last two productive meetings (which are available to watch on-demand) today we will review how to use break out sessions to make your online services more intimate.
In our past episodes, we have discussed the need to go beyond live streaming and explained why two way communications are so necessary for keeping congregations together during a time when communities are 100% distributed. We have also discussed a return for in-person church attendance and what that will mean when many of the congregation will have to stay at home.
We are going to recap all of this information, and provide ample time for Q&A. But most importantly, we will be hosting a live Zoom session where you can join intimate break out sessions with other worship leaders in groups of 4. This will be a process we call Virtual World Cafe, and it’s something you need to learn about as we push forward into this brave new world of online communications.
Very few churches can dive right into live streaming worship services. In the best possible scenario, a church would start with an assessment of long-term needs for live streaming and in-house audiovisual. The church would then build an integrated system that would last for years and be easily upgraded or expanded as needed.
Live streaming worship services to senior living centersPaul Richards
It turns out, this was only the beginning for the ministry of live streaming for Westminster Presbyterian. With the live stream in its third year at Maris Grove, the church is now streaming in two other retirement communities. And the church has learned that the service reaches more than the residents of retirement communities. As families become more and more mobile, it can be a challenge to stay connected to a community of faith while traveling. When people are far from home, there is great power in being able to join in worship via live stream. It also gives people who are away or unable to get to church the chance to be a part of weddings, funerals, and other church services.
Live streaming is becoming more straightforward and more affordable every day. Remote control cameras, one-touch streaming, and easy to use software make it possible for any church to get up and running to leverage technology to deepen relationships. Churches that had questions about the cost and potential of live streaming may find now is the perfect time to look again. It doesn't take much investment to create a powerful way for people to maintain and deepen their connection to their faith community.
In this presentation, PTZOptics has prepared tips for live streaming churches services with insight from over 20 video production experts. In order to create this presentation we reach out to various live streaming Facebook Groups including the Streaming Idiots and Church Sound & Media Techs. In these groups, we asked "What should a complete newbie know about live streaming a house of worship server?" We received over 100 comments from experts around the world. These insights on church streaming have been gathered into this concise presentation and reviewed by the PTZOptics Team.

MITRE ATT&CKcon 2018: Playing Devil’s Advocate to Security Initiatives with A...MITRE - ATT&CKcon
This talk presents a case study which demonstrates that we should consider the knowledge and wisdom contained within ATT&CK in all organizational security initiatives to make sure by fixing one thing we have not just created an opportunity.
The presentation shows how to leverage the analysis and classification of APT tactics and procedures (TTP) to guide research into new and novel techniques, specifically focusing on exfiltration and command and control.
DNS over HTTPS (DoH) aims to increase user privacy and security by preventing eavesdropping and manipulation of DNS data by man-in-the-middle attacks. Major web browsers such as Firefox are considering its implementation by default. But what could this possibly mean for exfiltration and command and control?
This session provides an end-to-end demo that shows DoH being implemented to provide full command and control in a popular attack simulation framework and discusses associated mitigations.
With the proliferation of cheap bandwidth and vulnerable systems the DDoS attack volume has increased tremendously over the last years. The talk will cover current threat models and possible countermeasures to mitigate the attacks when they should happen

Traditionally, IT organizations have treated infrastructure components like family pets. We name them, we worry about them, and we let them wake us up at 4:00 am. Amazon CTO Werner Vogels has dubbed these behaviors as server hugging and antiquated in today's cloud infrastructures. In this breakout session, we will discuss methods and methodology to get away from server hugging and be concerned more with the overall status and life of our entire infrastructure. From making use of toss-away-able on-demand infrastructure, to monitoring services and not individual servers, to getting away from naming instances, this session helps you see your infrastructure for what it is, technology that you control.
While many solutions simplify information transfer for people far away (eg. somewhere) or archive data (eg. sometime) using the same technologies for situations where people are in the same room is not perfect.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
