The	general	plan:	
	
We	are	in	the	spring	going	to	do	a	series	of	20	educational	tests	for	children	in	Syrian	families	
placed	in	Amman	in	Jordan.	This	series	of	test	will	be	followed	by	80	tests	in	August	and	
September.	
	
The	refugee	children	will	be	7-10	years	old	and	in	the	test	project	they	are	going	to	receive	extra	
English	training.	This	is	supporting	the	education	the	child	already	gets	in	the	school.	The	refugee	
children/families	are	not	living	in	the	camps	(no	Internet	connections	allowed)	but	are	in	this	case	
placed	in	Amman.	They	Syrian	children	in	Amman	are	attending	school	but	are	only	receiving	a	
limited	number	of	classes	and	the	general	quality	of	education	is	in	many	cases	low	due	to	lack	of	
resources,	teacher	training	etc.		
	
In	the	test	setup	the	Syrian	child	will	be	trained	at	home	in	extra	English	in	2	months.	The	purpose	
of	the	test	is	to	trace	improvements	in	English	(even	the	smallest	ones)	and	more	importantly	
examine	if	the	child	gets	more	motivated	for	learning	English	in	general.	Also,	the	parent´s	
participation	and	their	efforts	to	motivate	the	child	in	the	learning	process	is	important	to	
examine	in	the	test.			
	
Your	role	in	the	test	setup	and	future	education	program	should	be	as	an	educational	mentor	for	
the	parents	and	their	child	showing	the	parents	how	to	train	their	child	to	become	better	in	school	
and	gain	more	motivation	for	education.	From	Tutee’s	side	we	will	provide	you	with	a	rich	variety	
of	certified	online	English	training	games,	videos,	tests	etc.	that	the	parents	can	do	together	with	
the	child	as	the	main	extra	daily	training.	At	least	one	of	the	parents	should	have	a	minimum	
knowledge	to	English	-	otherwise	it	will	be	better	if	another	person	from	the	family/friends	etc.	
will	do	the	daily	training	with	the	child.	
	
Tutee	is	a	part	of	a	large	refugee	project	where	the	purpose	is	to	use	technology	and	other	ways	of	
organisation	to	deliver	education	to	all	refugee	children	in	the	world	in	the	next	couple	of	years!	
So	naturally	there	is	in	the	project	we	are	in	a	very	strong	focus	on	creating	as	mush	education	as	
possible	per	$.	This	way	it	will	be	possible	with	the	present	donations	to	reach	a	very	large	
numbers	of	refugee	children.	Put	in	in	another	way:	If	you	can	make	the	parent	doing	the	daily	
extra	training	in	a	reasonable	way,	then	you	will	be	able	to	help	many	other	children/families.	
	
Your	assignments	in	the	2-month	test-setup:	
	
a) Find	a	Syrian	family	with	a	child	7-10	who	wants	to	participate	(we	will	try	to	find	families	
through	our	partners,	but	it	will	be	faster	if	you	can	find	one	suitable	family	through	your	
network)	
b) Get	to	know	the	different	digital	training	applications,	videos	etc.	(we	will	send	you	
relevant	links.)	
c) Arrange	a	start-up	meeting	with	the	family	to	set	goals	and	explain	methods	for	the	test	
period	
d) Arrange	one	weekly	half-our	online	training	session	with	the	child	for	the	whole	period
e) Arrange	a	middle	meeting	at	the	end	of	the	first	month,	to	discuss	goals	and	methods	with	
the	parents	and	child.	
f) Evaluation	meeting	in	the	end	of	the	period.	You	will	be	provided	with	2	standard	
questionnaires	–	one	for	the	parents	and	one	for	the	child.	Those	will	bring	very	important	
data	to	the	project.		
	
Expected	time	usage	for	one	family	test:		
	
a) 5	hours	(depending	on	your	personal	network)	
b) 5-10	hours	(this	is	basis	time	usage,	that	can	be	used	for	other	family	tests	etc.	–	not	a	part	
of	the	payment	(hope	it´s	okay)		–	some	of	the	tools	can	perhaps	also	be	used	in	your	
normal	English	education	at	your	school	J	
c) 4	hours	incl.	transport	time	
d) 8	half	hour	online	meetings	=	4	hours	
e) Online	meeting	1	hour	
f) Online	meeting	1	hour	
	
TOTAL:	15	hours	of	$	10	=	$	150	per	family.	We	know	will	be	a	lot	of	thoughts	and	different	extra	
preparations	involved	for	you	doing	the	first	test-setups.	However,	it	is	crucial	to	remember	the	
importance	of	the	project	and	that	it	is	a	must	for	all	of	us	that	costs	are	as	low	as	possible	so	we	
can	continue	the	project	the	next	years.		
	
You	can	have	more	than	one	test	family	in	the	period	if	you	have	time	for	it.
