• Punjab is land of five rivers in
North West India.
• Punj means (five) and aab means
(water), so Punjab means land of
five waters.
• These five rivers named Beas,
Satluj, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum.
• Punjab is Divide in three regions:-
Majha, Doaba and Malwa.

4. How was Punjab divided?
After the partition of India in 1947,
the Punjab province of British India was divided
between India and Pakistan. The
Indian Punjab was divided on the basis of language
in 1966. It was divided into 3 parts.

authority) of Sikhism, three are in Punjab. These are
Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Damdama Sahib and Anandpur
Sahib.
