This document profiles Central Texas and contains the following key points: 1. It shows that the highest density of low-income students in Central Texas is in Southeast Travis County. The growth of the low-income student population has been greatest north and west of Austin. 2. There has been a dramatic increase in the percentage of low-income students in Central Texas, rising from 35% in 2000-2001 to 49% in 2010-2011. 3. The population projections for Central Texas show continued growth in the Hispanic population through 2040.
