To whom it may concern:
My name is Barbara Guster [Burch] and I am requesting candidacy for the clinical
research coordinator or patient advocate position. To begin with, I am skilled, knowledgeable
and have paid ability to work in the environment provided for a clinical research coordinator. I
believe in effective communications which allow me to provide active listening skills,
understanding, and writing expressed thoughts of the consumer. This sort of questioning leads to
confronting cultural demographics, occupation, and allergy issues—although I am an
experienced prober; I am empathetic to consumer’s needs. It is important for the consent form to
be signed by the consumer without discrimination and or restraints.
On the other hand, it is also important for the firm to deliver services under the rules and
regulations of the clinical trial. This requires that local, federal, and state regulations are
followed. In addition, the food and drug administration has laws that are to be supervised.
These decrees demand proper intervention, whether, or not the consumer has reasoning and
comprehension challenges or is a minor. The interview will demand a guardian and or translator
to be present to protect the rights of the consumer.
For instance, I used to be employed as a labor and delivery unit-ward-clerk at Mt. Sinai
Beth Israel in the year of 1993. One of my job duties was investigating the admitting intake.
This information allowed me to retrieve either dilation and cuteregge documents or expecting
mother’s medical record number and the medical chart linked to patient. This step by step
process offered me the ability to inform either the patient’s doctor or the triage nurse.
Sometimes, a patient may need more relief other than her medical records and to be triaged. I
learned that one of my patients was hard of hearing and needed a sign language translator. It is
our code of ethics to provide the expected mother to be with a sign language translator. I made
the decision to call for a sign language professional, but, the nursing department was
disappointed in my decision; for the reason that she was only a 24 hr. stay. The baby was not
due. Although; the midwife stood behind my decision; the nursing supervisor was annoyed—she
felt that it did not match the need of our budget. In addition, I learned that, although I made the
right decision for the consumer and maintained a safe environment for her. I did not think about
the cost to the hospital. This is definitely a moral and ethical issue I experienced. Hence, I thank
