- I am Tomas Andersson and are coordinating the SWB case This is the Geographic areas of the Case SWB I will say something about what topics and geographical areas we have identified as relevant to discuss in a transbourdary perspective of MSP Finaly I will say something about chalenges
- This an interested area with lot of population and a lot of activities going on Some areas are facing strong urbanisation and some has a declining population
- We have a big number of ports and there is a lot of cargo and ferry traffic going on
- Coherent planning cross boarders can are not always the same. We are talking about transboundary or cross boarders as its one thing. I will come back to this later on and it’s consequence's for the case. But for not I will just highlight some differences and try to connect them to hat this case will work with. But for now I just want to highlight that we have a number of different Cross or trans border situations in this region and effecting MSP First some example's of what I called Thematically Multilateral defined topics
- We have a lot of ports , but the shipping is also in transit, further in to the Baltic. It’s a have trafi sea and thers is separation skeems in place. This is AIS data for 2014, it shows all the traffic with routes and TSS This is effecting all countries in the case (and Baltic) and therefore Multilateral as well a thematic
- Fiching is taking place all over and This is effecting all countries in the case (and Baltic) and therefore Multilateral as well a thematic This shows the Swedish pelagic catches by trawl and seine. Here we will compile information from all countries KG landed weight 2012
- Environment are a Pan Baltic issue and we should tray to have a joint approach to ecosystem approach This is allso effecting all countries in the case (and Baltic) and therefore Multilateral as well a thematic The green her is an attempt to develop a map illustrating connectivity and core eras
- Now some examples of geographical interesting areas in the SWC I will give you some examples
- South Middelbank is a shallow bank in the EEZ between Poland and Sweden Environmental and wind power development is interesting here. How to develop or how to use the bank is mainly an issue to discuss on bilateral level between two copntries even thoe the environmental issues are effecting the entire SWB
- It’s the same with Adlers bank but here is more relevant for Denmark and Germany ro find a common wiev
- Öresund is another example of area were it’s mmotiveted to have Bilateral discussions. Öresund is interesting for many reason, we have a diffrent development here with physical infrastructure such as the bridges, idea's of tunnels, metros
- Kriegers Flak here we have three countries meeting each other in the EEZ zone and all thre have plans for developing wind power.
- Based on the knowledge's about development and geography the case has identified the following areas as important to discuss to be able to achieve coherent MSP planning
- We will try to work in this way
- As you can see the issue of TB linked to the planning is tricky. We need to keep in mind that achieving coherent planning might in the end effect the cooperation between states. This is good to keep in mind. We as civil servant do have different mandate for agreeing about this issues and how free we are to act
- The project is short and ther is a lot done in the region already so , it's important to not redo everything.
