• It is the largest ocean. Its marginal areas are comprised of deep trenches and volcanoes.
• Atlantic Ocean,
• It is the second largest ocean. It is also the worlds most important and busiest
trade route.

• It is the third largest ocean. It has its maximum stretch in southern hemisphere.
• Antarctic Ocean.
• Extreme cold water and huge icebergs are characteristics features of the ocean.

• Main causes of the movements are Waves, Currents and Tides.
• Waves,
• The movement of surface water is called waves. Waves is an ocean are
generated due to different natural factors.
• Currents,
• Rivers flow on land. Similarly when the ocean water moves permanently in
a specific direction it is called current.
• Tides,
• There is a continuous rise and fall in the sea level. Twice a day, the level
rises and twice a day the level falls as well. This is called tides.
