This document provides information for mentors participating in the Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering program. It outlines the program's mission to connect motivated young people with community experts for hands-on learning through 8-week internships. Mentors are expected to provide professional learning experiences and ensure safety, while program staff manage documentation and stipends. The orientation covers mentoring styles, best practices, and a Q&A with mentors from various organizations. The goal is for interns to build skills through project-based learning and career exploration with mentor guidance and support from monitors.
Online education has been with us for 21+ years and we’ve leaned lots. We developed good protocols for teaching online; how to use an LMS: discussion forums, quizzes, the best formats for docs, comm’s and messages. But we now have more collaborative forms of learning and assessment have seen new tools emerge that help us to systematise these new approaches. But many of these tools do not sit in our LMS. But wait, what did we do before we had all these technologies? We have always had ways of creating engaging learning experiences. Authentic assessment is still authentic assessment, but we now have a new kit bag of tools to help us deliver this. Resurgent teaching methods in the light of contemporary online environments

The document discusses debates around China's One-Child Policy. While some critics claim the policy has caused problems like an aging population, the Chinese government denies this. In reality, illegal extra children and underreported births mean China won't face serious workforce or aging issues. The document argues aging populations are an inevitable result of development, not a problem, and that addressing economic and social factors can help deal with aging societies. It also argues that abandoning the One-Child Policy would not solve issues like sex-selective abortion and an preference for boys, which are more cultural problems. Overall it concludes the One-Child Policy should continue to be implemented for China's future.

This document provides an overview of the geopolitical environment in Oceania, focusing on New Zealand and Australia. It outlines that New Zealand has a parliamentary democracy and was first inhabited by the Maori people over 1000 years ago. Its economy is driven by agriculture, forestry, horticulture and tourism, with dairy being a major export. Australia has a population of over 23 million and its economy relies heavily on mining and agriculture. It has a GDP of $1.3 trillion and unemployment of 5.5%, though economic growth has missed forecasts recently. Key references are provided at the end.

Gathering meaningful statistics: using KnowAll Enquire by Laura Connaughton, ...CILIP ARLG
Laura Connaughton discusses NUI Maynooth Library's implementation of the KnowAll Enquire software to track reference questions. Previously questions were tracked using paper forms, but KnowAll Enquire allows the library to streamline the process and generate detailed statistics on questions. It has improved workflow and allowed the library to demonstrate its value through metrics. While implementation required time and resources, the benefits include a centralized knowledge base, consistent customer service, and ability to improve services based on data.

Staffing Research Data Services at University of EdinburghRobin Rice
Invited remote talk for Georg-August University of Göttingen workshop: RDM costs and efforts on 28 May in Göttingen. Organised by the project Göttingen Research Data Exploratory (GRAcE).
The document discusses using a spreadsheet to analyze data on students' weekly activities. It compares using spreadsheets versus databases for storing and manipulating data. While spreadsheets work well for small, simple data, databases are better for large, complex, relational data as they prevent data redundancy and inconsistencies. The document also uses the student activity data to analyze a hypothesis about how work hours impact students, finding mixed results that don't fully support the hypothesis.
The document outlines the new Taylor Family Digital Library at the University of Calgary, including an overview of the facility, key partnerships and services, and a discussion of next steps to further develop the library as a center for research, collaboration, and community engagement through innovative technologies and spaces. How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
How to Setup Warehouse & Location in Odoo 17 InventoryCeline George
In this slide, we'll explore how to set up warehouses and locations in Odoo 17 Inventory. This will help us manage our stock effectively, track inventory levels, and streamline warehouse operations.
