The Bay Area Air Quality Management District approved $3 million in funding to provide incentives for up to 1,300 households to replace older, more polluting fireplaces and wood stoves with cleaner heating options like heat pumps, natural gas or propane stoves. The incentives will range from $750 to $12,000 depending on the type of new device, income level, and location. This program aims to reduce health impacts from wood smoke and improve air quality in the region.
