Roles and Responsibilities
1. Review the vault cash movement register /subject to count cash register /staff movement
register in and out of the vault area / vault cash summary register for existence,
completeness, accuracy and timely updating.
2. Review of branch vault dual control structure and ensure that the control is not compromised.
3. Review beginning of day opening of the branch vault and end of day closing of the vault.
4. Call over the branch transaction tickets within 24 hours for timely detection of errors
/omission
5. To actively suggest ways over countering control gaps and related problems
6. Review the vault cash holding to ensure that the branch operates within its advised insurance
limit and any exception on this should be flagged.
7. Review and ensure that the vault physical cash position agrees to system vault figure /manual
and balance sheet cash position.
8. Ensure prompt investigation and disposal of any breach including customer’s complaint /
shortage / overage
9. Ensure proper filing /batching of branch call over transaction tickets.
10. Review current account performance for any unsatisfactorily operated accounts, suspicious
account and dormant accounts.
11. Monitor month end statement to ensure completeness proper and prompt dispatching.
12. Review of account opening documentation and follow up effort on account with incomplete
account documentation. Review level of compliance with address check in line with CBN and
principle of KYC.
13. Review of account thrown into unauthorized debits due to monthly interest charges.
14. Ensure that there is no income leakages,
15. Review of expense for reasonability, compliance with policy, proper authorization,
classification and correctness of entries.
16. General security review of the branch immediate and remote external environment.
17. Review the following proof of general ledger.
18. Review of the branch balance sheet.
19. Monitoring rate granted on deposit to be in line with advised rate by treasury.
20. Review of all credit booking for proper approvals, documentation, perfection, compliance with
the bank credit policy and term of contract.
21. Review risk asset report and inquiry into any unusual movements.
22. Weekly review of all branch registers and rendering reports on same.

Internal controller CLEARING & GL REVIEW UNIT:
Bank wide GL review, daily 100% call over of figures and images of all inward and outward Clearing
Instruments received and presented respectively by the bank. Review of all returned inward and outward
cheques. Ensure all observed infractions are escalated to the inputter and supervisors daily and also
ensure that corrective actions are carried out within 24hours.
Internal controller DOMESTIC AND TREASURY OPERATIONS
Effective review of the transactions captured in domestic operations to ensure completeness and
compliance with procedural guidelines and prevent regulatory infractions. Monitoring the transactions in
Cash management Centre. Ensure all observed infractions are escalated to the imputer and supervisors
daily. Effectiveness at follow up to ensure compliance with the banks procedural guidelines.

transactions at a specified threshold.
