AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Dow Two Carat Award from Bryan Hopkins – July 28, 2011
STRATEGY – Financial Discipline
Summary: “On behalf of the Supply Chain Services/Rail Asset Operations and the polyethylene
business, we want to thank you for all of your efforts over the last weeks in repositioning hopper cars.
Your diligent work has allowed the PE plants to continue producing product even while one of the plants
is shut down. Your work in balancing hopper car needs between the Gulf Coast and Canadian sites while
doing so in a cost efficient manner is appreciated.”
Dow One Carat Award from Brian Coonan – February 13, 2012
COMPETENCIES – Delivering Innovative Solutions
Summary: “Heather – thank you for your suggestion and idea of creating a field within the Fleets
Database that the RFA’s could make notes on specific cars that may have some type of exception on
them. You had an issue with PLCX cars that could only load in Plaquemine and due to this information
not being widely known, dollars were being used in doing multiple diversions. This idea led to discussions
and a tool that was implemented in February which allowed RFA’s to place notes on cars which would
transfer to the Fleets Database.”
Dow One Carat Award from Bryan Hopkins – August 30, 2012
COMPETENCIES – Collaborating for Superior Results
Summary: “Thank you for all your efforts at making the Braskem remarking program a success. We
completed remarking the cars divested to Braskem within a very aggressive timeline and without a
negative impact on Braskem. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.”
Dow Two Carat Award from Brenda Baker – February 14, 2013
COMPETENCIES – Collaborating for Superior Results
Summary: “In recognition of your teamwork and collaboration that was demonstrated in managing a very
tight supply of hopper cars over the past several months. Your support was greatly appreciated to help
ensure our plants continued to have the appropriate number of hopper cars to meet the needs of
production. Throughout this period of time, the business did not lose any production. Thank you for all of
your extra efforts and commitment in managing this challenging situation.”
Dow One Carat Award from Brian Coonan – April 4, 2013
COMPETENCIES – Delivering Innovative Solutions
Summary: “Wanted to recognize you for the effort you put into gathering data to determine the best
method to come up with a more accurate projection for Plaquemine’s inbound traffic. You worked with
the site to get real numbers and compiled data from multiple systems to come up with what I believe will
be a more accurate measurement and hopefully give you the ability to make decisions that will benefit the
sites railcar inventory. Very nice work.”
SILVER AWARD from Robert Kiefer II – April 28, 2014
Summary: “In recognition of your efforts in managing through a very challenging winter weather crisis
management event impacting rail operations. Your support, dedication and commitment has been
instrumental in minimizing the impact to our customers and our facilities. We appreciate all of your efforts
in managing through a very challenging situation. Thank you!”
Recognition letter from Howard Ungerleider (Executive Vice President) – March 27, 2014
Summary: “To the Road and Rail Teams & Customer Service Team: My sincere appreciation for your
continued extraordinary efforts to minimize the impact of the on-going Road/Rail network constraints on
our customers. Your commitment has made a very positive difference for them and for Dow, and please
continue to keep the momentum and continue escalating new ideas as we work through the recovery.
Thank you!”
Recognition eCard from William Myers (Plaquemine, LA Site Logistics Leader) – May 30, 2014
Reason for Recognition: Collaborating for Superior Results
Summary: “Heather, I wanted to thank you for taking extra time in managing the PE Rail Hopper fleet.
This is a demanding and volatile rail fleet with many variables we all have to manage and respond to.
Your attention and quick response to the various environmental conditions allow the plants across North
America to remain fully operational in a very profitable business. Thank you for being flexible cooperative
and understanding and help.”
Reliability-in-Action Award – received May 27, 2014
Reason: Exemplary work on Plastics Hopper Car Rail Fleet Management
Summary: “You and hundreds of your colleagues helped enable Dow to surpass our Reliability Goals for
2013. We delivered more than $365 million in value form an increased focus on enterprise-wide
reliability, improving both business process and asset reliability. This was achieved, in part, through an
unprecedented level of 89% Product Supply Reliability (PSR) and the implementation of LEAN and IPS
projects. This is great progress! We want to personally thank you for the collaboration, persistence and
personal investment that was needed to accomplish this project. You have embraced the ideals and
principles of a Highly Reliable Organization and are helping Dow to realize its vision of zero unplanned
events that impact our stakeholders. – Paul Dean (Corporate Director of Reliability) & Otto Parets
(Director, Enterprise Reliability)”
SPOTLIGHT AWARD from David Sigler (954 & 499 Building) – July 23, 2015
Summary: “Your act of kindness this morning helping me out when I crashed my car shows what a caring
person you are. I just needed to say Thank you for contacting the ambulance and then waiting to take me
to 52 gate when I had no ride. You did this knowing you would be late to work. Dow needs more people
like you that get involved instead of looking and driving by. Great to have a co-worker like you in my
corner.”
