This document discusses engaging librarians and information professionals in Africa to address challenges and opportunities in accessing information and knowledge to support socio-economic development on the continent. It aims to develop mechanisms to make locally generated knowledge more accessible within Africa, strengthen institutions' abilities to create, manage and share local content, and consider users' information needs as well as opportunities from new methods and technologies for knowledge sharing.
