 Avižieniai basic school was founded in 1964. The
students were taught in three languages: Lithuanian,
Polish, Russian.
 A new school building was opened in 1979.
 The basic school was reorganized into the secondary
school in 1998.
 Today students are taught in two languages, Lithuanian and
Polish. There are 208 students taught in Lithuanian and 120
students learning all subjects in Polish.
 Valerija Orševska has been the
school headmistress since 2003.
 The school offers special educational, psychological and
social assistance to students who require it, provided by a
qualified psychologist, a social worker, a speech therapist,
in collaboration with teachers.
 The teaching staff - 50 teachers (26 senior teachers, 17
teacher methodologists).
 The child is a value, the teacher is an educator and a
witness of truths of life.
 The Avižieniai Gymnasium is an educational
institution that provides a modern qualitative teaching
for its students.
 To help a student to perceive the contemporary world;
 To teach honest rivalry;
 To develop national identity;
 To help students choose their future career.
 We offer various Art, Sport, Technology and Social
education activities:

 5. Volleyball teams for boys and girls (the
coaches V. Šumskas, V. Verbovik)
 Since 1968 school has been famous for boys and girls
volleyball teams.
