A large chunk of snow detached from a glacier in the middle of the night and began moving down the mountain with an explosive crash. The avalanche covered the village houses in snow like a wild beast, breaking walls, shutters, and windows. Several buildings, including Mr. Baumgarton's office, the baker's, and cafe were badly damaged. Six villagers were injured and brought to the first aid post, where the village mid-wife attended to them. The avalanche surprised the villagers. Avalanches typically fall in the hilly areas of Pakistan, such as Siah Chin, Kalam, Shangla, Malam Jaba, and Gumraat.
