• During our genre research we were exposed to
successful conventions of a horror film. It would be a
sensible option to emulate these conventions, which
could result in a successful, slightly generic horror
trailer.
• However we have also researched the Auteur
theory, and looking at examples such as Hitchcock it
has become very convincing to follow, and take this
more creative route when developing our products.
• This poses the question of should we follow
conventions of the genre, or become Auteurs?

3. Conclusion
• We have decided to become a mixture of both.
• We will follow convention to allow our products
to portray the genre to the audience, but we will
add what is referred to as the ‘directors signature’
to our production.
• At this early stage of our production we have not
yet decided what this ‘signature’ could be. Use of
focus could be a sensible option, since we have
mastered it during our preliminary task.
