An Unusual Presentation of Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Bilateral Temporal Bones by Titas Kar in Experiments in Rhinology & Otolaryngology
Squamous cell carcinoma of temporal bone is a rare entity, comprising of a very small percentage of all head neck tumours, mostly occurring in aged population. Bilateral presentation of tumours in both temporal bones is extremely rare and only a few cases have been reported. We report a case of bilateral squamous cell carcinoma of both temporal bones in a young adult male patient who presented very late.

Dr. Ahmed M. Adawy, Professor Emeritus, Dep. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Former Dean, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Al-Azhar University. Ameloblastoma is benign slow-growing but locally invasive neoplasm of odontogenic origin. In 2005, the WHO has classified ameloblastomas into multi cystic, unicystic and peripheral subtypes. The clinical picture, radiographic findings and differential diagnosis are presented. Treatment of ameloblastomas is primarily surgical. There has been some debate regarding the most appropriate method for removing. These range from conservative to radical modes. Some authors advocate conservative approach and thought that ameloblastoma are essentially benign in nature and should be treated as such. However, this conservative approach result in recurrence rates of 55% to 90%of the cases. Currently, the standard of care for ameloblastoma includes en bloc resection with 1-2 combine margin and immediate bone reconstruction. Despite the medical nature of a surgical resection, it may actually involve less morbidity than extensive hard and soft tissue resection with associated extensive morbidity that may be warranted in case of recurrence following inadequate primary treatment.

Metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma typically appears in local lymph nodes, nasal and skull base metastases are rare. The authors describe the third case of Metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma to nasal cavities and paranasal cavities in the literature. The objective of this study is to describe - from our clinical case and from literature review- the clinical radiological features of this rare entity, and to discuss its therapeutic management. Until now, there is not enough data on postoperative radioactive iodine ablation, external radiation,
or chemotherapy, but early diagnosis is essential for an ideal care. It seems that surgical approach is one of the best methods to manage and eradicate this type of tumor.
BENIGN TUMOUR : Is a new growth, which is limited by a capsule and grows by local expansion without causing any harm to the host, excepting its position in a vital organ.
MALIGNANT TUMOUR : Is a new growth which is characterized by rapid growth, sign of invasion, absence of capsule and last of all dissemination to other parts of the body usually by hematogenous or lymphatic route or both.

Primary malignant schwannoma is a rare neoplasm of nerve sheath origin. It is a cancer of the connective tissue surrounding nerves. Given its origin and behavior it is classifi ed as sarcoma. The estimated incidence of Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST) in general population is 0.001% and in patients with Neurofi bromatosis 1 (NF-1) is 2-5%. It is an uncommon spindle cell sarcoma accounting for approximately 5% of all soft-tissue sarcoma. They are highly aggressive and occur in the second or third decade. This neoplasm usually affects the extremities. There is strong association between MPNSTs and neurofi bromatosis (NF-1) and previous irradiation. We present the case of a 61-year-old woman manifesting with recurrent sciatalgy near for the fourth and fi fth lumbar vertebral bodies. She underwent resection of a mass at the L4-5 level that was subsequently recognized as a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor.
Chondroblastic osteosarcoma of the left zygomatic bone rare case report and ...Prashant Munde
Chondroblastic osteosarcoma (COS), a subgroup of intramedullary
osteosarcoma (OS), is the most common osteosarcoma that occurs in
adolescents and early adulthood. The COS has similar clinical and radiological
features to those of conventional OS. We present a case of 20‑year‑old male
patient with the chief complaint of pain and swelling in the left zygomatic region.
The computed tomography (CT) and three‑dimensional (3D) CT face showed
erosion, calcific foci, sunray type of spicules suggestive of OS. On fine‑needle
aspiration cytology (FNAC) examination, initial diagnosis was malignant
chondroid lesion, with differential diagnosis of mesenchymal chrondrosarcoma,
COS on incisional biopsy and finally COS on excisional biopsy. The patient
underwent radical resection of left zygomatic arch, followed by chemotherapy.
Although clinically unsuspected in this unusual site, histopathology along with
immunohistochemistry (IHC) results confirmed the COS. Because zygomatic
location of COS is very rare, this report aimed to discuss clinical, radiographic,
histopathologic, IHC findings and diagnostic pitfalls of COS in light of the
literature.

Health Education on prevention of hypertensionRadhika kulvi
Hypertension is a chronic condition of concern due to its role in the causation of coronary heart diseases. Hypertension is a worldwide epidemic and important risk factor for coronary artery disease, stroke and renal diseases. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels and is sufficient to maintain tissue perfusion during activity and rest. Hypertension is sustained elevation of BP. In adults, HTN exists when systolic blood pressure is equal to or greater than 140mmHg or diastolic BP is equal to or greater than 90mmHg. The

the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses most frequently, accounting for
30% of all the cases. Of the sinonasal tract, it occurs most frequently
in the maxillary sinus, followed by the ethmoid sinus, nasal cavity,
sphenoid sinus and the frontal sinus. Other reported sites in the head
and neck include the craniofacial bones (15-25%), larynx (10-15%),
soft tissue of the neck (10-15%), major salivary gland (5-15%), and
oral cavity (5-15%). Pharynx, ear and eyelid [10-13].
According to review done by Kanazawa et.al, among the MFH
cases, 65% were male and 35% were female. The age distribution at
diagnosis varied from 1.5 to 69 years, but the most common in the
latter half of life, with a mean age of 41 [14]. Other studies reported a
peak incidence in the 5th
-7th
decade of life [15].
With respect to the differential diagnosis of MFH from other
malignant tumors in the head and neck- squamous cell carcinoma,
malignant lymphoma, malignant giant cell tumors, fibro sarcomas
and osteolytic osteosarcomas must be considered [16].
The treatment of choice for MFH is extended surgical resection.
Radical surgical resection and clear surgical margins is very important
in improving the survival [16,17].
Because of regional lymph node involvement in 10-18% of cases
consideration should be given to elective neck dissection [17,18]. The
decision for radiotherapy depends upon size, site, histopahtological
grade and the achievable surgical clearance [2].
However, Kearney et.al. Conducted radiotherapy on 45 patients
with a measurable tumor and reported that six of them showed partial
response (13%). Many researchers have reported that radiotherapy
for MFH was less effective [15].
Yamaguchi et al. reported that local recurrence was less common
in patients with adjuvant therapy (RT with or without CT) compared
to patients with surgery alone [2].
MFH metastasize to the lungs by heamatogenous routes. Sato et
al. has reported distant metastasis in the lung, bone, skin and regional
lymph nodes [9]. According to Rapidis et al. MFH has a 16-52%
chance of developing local recurrence [18].
