A teacher will be teaching months of the year to 17 first grade special education students over 5 days using various activities. 10 students are boys and 7 are girls, with the class being 70% white, 20% African American, and 10% Hispanic. 7 students have ADHD. Through singing, crafts, weather lessons, sign language, and birthday presentations, the teacher aims to have 85% of students learn the months with high accuracy.

ASSURE Method
I will be teaching the months of the year to special education, first grade students. There are
seventeen students, ten boys and seven girls. Seventy percent of the class is white, twenty
percent is African American, ten percent is Hispanic, and seven of these students have mild to
severe ADHD. In five days, my students will learn the months of the year. They will sing a song
about the twelve months, make a calendar, know what the weather is like in each month, learn
the months in sign language, and then present to the class what month their birthday falls under.
By the end of the week, my students will have learned the months of the year with eighty-five
percent accuracy.
