Harry wakes up and gets ready for the day. The production log documents the filming of scenes showing Harry waking up in bed, turning off his alarm clock, getting ready in the bathroom, leaving his house and walking past a homeless person at the bus stop without giving any money, establishing Harry as an unkind character.
Documentary films use different types of footage and editing techniques to tell a story. A-roll footage features interviews with subjects important to the topic, filmed with stable camera work and proper lighting and framing. B-roll footage supplements the interviews with additional imagery edited together. Cutaway shots, establishing shots, archive footage, still photos, and vox pops provide visual context for what is being discussed. A presenter or voiceover guides the viewer with a script and anchors the meaning of the images.
The document discusses how the student's media product uses conventions from real music magazines. The front cover uses conventions like a prominent masthead, placing the masthead behind the main image, including 5 fonts and anchorage. However, the background Union Jack flag challenges conventions. The contents page and double page spread also follow conventions regarding layout, columns, and continuing the color scheme. The student learned new skills using Photoshop, Quark, and digital cameras to construct the magazine, and their skills and understanding of conventions improved significantly from their preliminary college magazine task.
The document summarizes the first week of editing for a short film project. During this week, the team did a reshoot of a rejection scene from a different angle. They also shot a new scene of the character Hermione planning revenge. Now that filming was complete, it was time to edit the footage using Final Cut Pro editing software. The summary introduces the basic layout and tools of Final Cut Pro to put together the various shots, transitions, and sounds into the finished film.
The document provides a production schedule and responsibilities for a short film crew. The director, Topaz, is responsible for deciding locations, ensuring the storyboard matches the script, narrowing ideas with the producer, and selecting suitable film conventions. Their schedule involves camera workshops and practice sessions in week 1, shooting bedroom and bus stop scenes in week 2, and the first forest scene in week 3. Weeks 4 and 5 involve reshoots and editing, with the second week of editing scheduled for week 6.
The document outlines basic conventions for filming and editing documentary footage. It discusses using steady shots of interview subjects framed using thirds, without the interviewer shown. It also discusses using b-roll footage and cutaways to supplement interviews, as well as establishing shots, archive footage, stills, and vox pops. Finally, it mentions using a presenter or voiceover to anchor meaning and guide understanding with a carefully written script.
The document is a draft script that follows Harry on his first day at college. In the first scene, Harry bullies a boy at the bus stop. At college, he copies another student's homework. Harry tries to flirt with the new student Hermoine, but she rejects his advances. Later, Harry spreads rumors about Hermoine being "easy" which angers her and causes others to stare. In the final scenes, Harry leaves college alone and takes a shortcut through the woods in the dark.
The document provides details on camera shots, audio, and actions for a film scene involving a character named Harry. The scene shows Harry waking up late, rushing to get ready and catch the bus, where he bullies another boy. He then arrives late to his college class and copies another student's homework. A new student, Hermione, enters the class.

The document discusses the process of creating a double page spread reviewing a horror film. Key points include:
- The layout featured a main image on one page and text on the facing page, following conventions. Two horror-themed images were used.
- Photoshop was used to edit a rating icon by selecting its background for removal.
- Elements like a bold title, ratings, and a pull quote citing "a terrifying end" were included to follow conventions and attract readers.
- The review comments on aspects of the film like plot and acting without revealing specific events.
Using Adobe Photoshop, the document discusses constructing a film poster for a class project. Various tools in Photoshop like layers, text boxes, and selection tools were used to create and organize the different elements of the poster. Effects like adjusting hue/saturation and adding brush splatters were applied to elements like images and text to achieve a dissolved, glowing look. Conventions from existing movie posters regarding layout, strap lines, images, colors and fonts were followed to design the custom poster.
Our target audience is teenagers who enjoy psychological thrillers and the feelings of adrenaline and suspense they provide. While thrillers typically attract a male audience, our film features a female protagonist to allow female viewers to relate to her innocence and feel empathy. We chose a psychological thriller to appeal to a wider audience than just males. A female audience will also be attracted by the location settings and the depiction of the main character dealing with schizophrenia, feeling sympathy for her struggles.
The document contains an evaluation of two student-created magazine covers and contents pages.
[1] The first magazine, aimed at college students, uses a basic layout but with innovative elements like a tagline down the side. It represents all college students and would be distributed and advertised on campus.
[2] The second magazine, focused on music, has a vibrant cover that challenges conventions. It represents various music genres and social groups. It would be sold in major retail stores. Both magazines target teens to 30s and use design elements like bold colors to attract audiences.
