From audience feedback on a music video, the creator learned:
1. The introduction needed clarification as it established the setting and atmosphere.
2. Performance shots only worked when the performer seemed enthusiastic about the track.
3. The narrative and use of masks was effective at conveying meaning, but the ending confused some viewers.

Audience Feedback
1. What have you learned from your audience
feedback?
When retrieving and filming our audience feedback, we asked five
separate questions to four members of our audience. The
questions we asked were:
1. Is there anything about the video that you did not understand?
2. What do you think worked well in the music video?
3. What did you think about the use of masks in the music video?
4. Do you think the performance shots worked well against the
narrative?
5. Do you feel you understood the concept of the narrative?
From the collabrative answers to the first question I have learned
that the introduction to the music video should be made clear as it
is establishing a setting and an atmosphere for the upcoming
video. I also learned that performance shots only work particularly
well when the performer looks enthusiastic about her track and
her performance, otherwise the meaning appears to be lost in the
transition to audience.
Using our audience feedback from the second question, I have
learned that our narrative worked well as it was “clear” and
concise, and that a clear narrative is important in a music video. I
also learned that the use of masks was effective in our video as it
was felt it was innovative and helped produce a unique and
effective shot of the “I WISH” lyrics. Lastly, under the umbrella of
question two, I learned that some felt the cutting pace was
effective and flowed with the happenings of the video.
From our answers gathered from the third question I learned that
the masks produced idea of animalistic imagery for our audience-
an approach that we were hoping would be portrayed to them.
Our audience believed the masks to be unique and inkeeping with
an indie genre due to its abstractness. I learned that the use of
masks was effective in reaching our desired meaning.
With the results from question four, I have learned that our
performer did not seem particularly enthusiastic to the audience
and that they would have prefered that she seemed more
2. connected with the track. Some felt that the narrative
“overweighed” the performance. From this I have learned that a
music video may be more effective with equal measures of both
narrative and performance, in order to stop it feeling like a short
story. However, there was praise for the performance shots as
some thought they were effective and offered a break from the
narrative.
The answers from our last question enabled me to learn that our
narrative was clear and the audience were able to understand and
relay the separate events that occurred. However, same found the
ending to be confusing and not a satisfying ending the narrative. I
have learned that it is important to induce a captivating ending.
Overall, I have learned both positive and negative aspects from
our audience feedback and have gained valuable knowledge for if
I were to make another music video or improve on our current
one.
