1) Passage barrier improvements completed in 2011 on Auburn Ravine allowed access to historical Chinook salmon spawning grounds. Surveys in 2012 found 45 redds and an estimated escapement of 161 salmon. 2) Redd densities were highest in the first two miles above the barrier improvements. Additional redds were found further upstream but in lower densities, possibly limited by another partial barrier. 3) Data on redd characteristics, fish observations, and habitat measurements were collected to help evaluate spawning habitat quality and guide future management. The study provides a baseline for monitoring the impact of the passage improvements.
