Getting a new puppy or adult dog is always an exciting time for the entire family. There is a good reason why dogs are known as man’s best friend, and a loyal dog is more than just a pet
as they becoming a beloved member of the family.
In order to achieve that level of love and companionship, however, it is important to start you need puppy or adult dog off on the right foot. A solid grounding in obedience and problem
behavior avoidance is essential to making your dog, and you, happier and healthier.

"In the dog training field you see a lot of half-truths and a fair share of total
myths. And when it comes to myth-making and myth-breaking, I've found
that it's quite common to have dog trainers insult your intelligence and
waste your time.
I mean, everyone knows that you don't house train a dog by rubbing their
face in their own mess. Everyone knows you don't teach a reluctant dog
to swim with a firm shove into the swimming pool. And we all know you
CAN teach an old dog new tricks (yes, your old dog is often smart enough
to make you think otherwise).
So I'd like to offer you some of the most important and most persistent
myths that have shaped my own experience with clients. All of these
questions grow out of common dog obedience problems - none of them

A dog crate is a safe and protected den for your Shih Tzu to be in while we cannot supervise them. Of course there are some Shih Tzus who don’t need crates and have never used one, but don’t mistake that for the norm.
Is your dog cranky before a grooming session? Does it wince, whine and pee during a professional pet grooming? Well, we all have been there! Every owner must experience an uncontrollable behavior of their pet during grooming. To be honest, there are very rare cases where you find a dog being totally cordial with a groomer. Some dogs start urinating by seeing grooming tools! So, before you take your pet grooming scissors for an awful ride, it is important to calm your dog!

Proper Training for your Dogs at home.
Dogs that always get their own way will believe that life revolves around them and for
that reason they must be important. Since dogs are looking for controlling different
resources than humans, their bid for power usually goes undetected until it’s too late.
Obedience and house training your dog and ensuring he’s not raised to a top position
inside the home will keep your relationship with him well-balanced in your favor, as it
must be for satisfaction all round.
This manual will help you teach your dog the basics of obedience. The beginner level exercises will introduce fundamental control commands and give you basic control of your dog. While the approach I’ve taken in this manual will meet the needs of a wide range of pet owners and their dogs, it’s by no means the only effective one.Nor are the methods the last word in all dog-training issues.
If the techniques in this guide aren’t right for your dog’s particular training needs, ask your veterinarian to recommend a dog obedience trainer.A well-trained dog makes for a better behaved pet, a better relationship between pet and owner, and a safer city. Be patient with your pooch, and yourself. You’re both on the learning curve. Happy training!
GETTING STARTED
Before you start the training program, some preparation is needed.
First, read the Week 1 lesson plan, including the “Introduction to dog training,” and follow all the instructions. It will give you some useful background and explain some of the theory behind the training. Completing Week 1 may not take the whole week, but be sure you have read and understood this section before you start training.
There is one lesson plan per week for Weeks 2 - 8. Each builds on the skills of the previous week(s), so it’s important to complete the preceeding lesson before advancing to the next.
Spend a whole week on each lesson plan. Don’t skip ahead.
For best results, train your dog at least 30 minutes each day. Two 15-minute sessions are ideal.
Read the whole lesson plan for the week before starting. As you read, visualize what you’re trying to achieve. Try to picture what the exercises will look like – and how you’ll teach the skill. It’s very helpful to reread individual sections before starting to teach – or even go through the motions without the dog at first.
What is considered dog whispering training to many people is some sort of voodoo or a farce but all it basically comes down to is energy work.
I have an extensive background with canine energy work and I believe anyone can do it as long as they are open minded and do not have the human superiority complex.
This complex I see all the time and creates deep seeded behavior problems for dogs that have human owners who think they are more important than they are.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Training tips
14. #1: Food in hand
Tuck a piece of dog food under your
thumb. Hold your palm out so your dog
can touch it with her nose. Say "Yes!" and
release the food to her when she does.
#2: Hold out empty hand
After several "boops" with the food in your
hand, switch to an empty hand. When your dog
touches your palm with her nose, mark "Yes!"
and reward with food from your other hand.
When your dog is "booping" her nose to
your palm reliably, add the cue
"Touch!". Give the cue and then hold
out your palm. Mark "Yes!" and reward.
#3: Add the cue "Touch" #4: Real world practice
Slowly increase distractions. First, on a
walk at a quiet time before trying at a
busy time or the kitchen when it's empty,
then when one person is present.
#5: Ready for Prime Time!
Use "Touch" to guide your dog past people, other dogs, and other
distractions. Be sure to reward each time to keep the behavior strong!

This is so much fun! I

22. Why should we teach dogs not to jump?
Not everyone likes dogs, and some people are actually afraid of them. Big
dogs, especially, can be scary and can knock over children or the elderly.
USE A LEASH BUILD A SIT-STAY
Keep your dog leashed at times when he/she
might jump on someone and you haven't worked
on training. The leash will give you the ability to
remove your dog quickly.
Once your dog has mastered a sit-stay, increase
the level of difficulty by having a friendly
familiar person approach your dog. If your dog
stays seated, he/she gets to say hello!
If your dog jumps, instruct your friend to turn
away. Re-sit your dog, and try again. Your dog
will learn quickly that sitting is what earns
him a happy greeting!
Practice this with as many people as possible.
The more practice your dog gets, the better.
Make sure to follow the rules each and every
time for best results!

TOGETHER
Don't forget to use your potty planner!
Keeping track day by day will help you be successful!
#1: Supervise!
Your dog must be crated, on your
lap or tethered to you when
indoors. You must go out with
your dog to potty every time.
#2: Reward!
Reward your dog for pottying in the
proper location as soon as she is done.
Use food and praise.
Be generous!
If you have one week with no
accidents, your dog earns a half hour
of free time after a potty break.
#3: Sweet Freedom! #4:Level Up!
Increase free time after one week of
no accidents. Choose a random time
or add extra time after a potty break.
Congrats!
If you succeed for one week at #4, you will be a house training master!
If you have any accidents, return to #2 for one week.
