WRITE:
A
response
paper
discussing
your
thoughts
and
reflections
about
the
importance
of
the
social
sciences.
Two
key
questions
you
might
address
are:
Why
should
an
individual
student
choose
to
study
the
social
sciences?
Why
is
it
important
for
our
society
that
people
do
continue
to
study
the
social
sciences
instead
of
choosing
to
pursue
another
type
of
degree?
You
are
asked
to
address
both
of
these
questions
by
doing
each
of
the
following:
• Recall/Reflect
on
what
you
have
experienced
or
learned
in
the
first
months
of
your
studies
in
the
social
sciences.
• Evaluate/Interpret
how
the
value
of
the
social
sciences
are
addressed
in
these
online
readings,
commenting
on
any
points
that
interest
you,
and
assessing
whether
there
are
important
ideas,
arguments,
or
points
they
do
not
cover.
• Analyse/Examine
why
you
think
the
authors
of
the
readings
above
emphasize
what
they
do,
and
whether
there
are
other
ways
to
answer
the
questions
from
different
perspectives.
Your
draft
response
paper
should
be
two
to
three
(2-‐3)
double-‐spaced
pages
in
length.
It
should
be
written
using
several
paragraphs
rather
than
in
point
form
or
as
one
long
paragraph.
Whenever
you
mention
ideas
from
the
readings,
be
sure
to
cite
the
source
using
an
in-‐text
citation
or
footnote.
Whenever
you
quote
the
wording
from
one
of
the
readings,
even
if
just
a
phrase,
be
sure
to
put
the
quote
in
quotation
marks
and
add
an
in-‐text
citation
or
footnote.
Be
sure
to
include
a
list
of
sources.
SAVE:
Your
draft
response
paper
as
a
.doc
or
.docx
file
using
your
word
processing
program.
In
order
for
the
peer-‐review
part
of
this
assignment
to
work,
we
are
going
to
use
.doc
and
.docx
files
as
our
shared
standard.
Many
alternate
programs
such
as
Pages
on
a
Mac
computer
(or
others)
do
not
automatically
save
as
.doc
or
.docx
so
you
might
need
to
follow
certain
steps
to
either
‘save
as’
or
‘export’
your
document.
