Treating Lester will need more than assistance in care. His
family who serves as proxy needs help in meeting financial
needs. Lester needs help learning to live within his new
conditions. Lesters’ care plan requires no singular treatment but
a multitude of them, each with separate conditions of care and
supports for Lester.

4. Social workers are expected to take the service user’s
perspective into consideration as well as
any particular model of practice that they adopt. The problem is
that these views and practices become the unspoken, implicit
assumptions behind social work practice (Roscoe, 2011). I
would apply a systems perspective to social work practice by
learning the whole client and their needs. It would take active
listening with the client and those who may have an impaction
on them. Some may need more support while others may help to
be less dependent. Using the systems theory social workers
understand it takes multiple tools and avenues to explore
treatment plans that will benefit the client.

5. People have involvement with multiple systems in a social
environment consisting of the family systems, social mezzo
system, Macrosystems, communities, and microsystems
(Zastrow, & Kirst-Ashman, 2016). Family system focus on
treating clients in the micro and mezzo level of therapy because
of the client's interactions with their family members. The
family dynamics give useful insights on beliefs, structure, and
impact it has on an individual's life. Groups involve social
mezzo systems that look into the groups the client is a part of,
such group gives insight on the kind of people the client
interacts with and how others view them in their peer group.
Organizations and macro systems help a social worker find help
for the client, some organizations they may be a part of, and
others may facilitate training they can gain for future
employment if the client needs finding a job. Communities or
macro system help the social worker determine if the client
suffers social injustice and requires information to improve his
or her quality of living (Zastrow, & Kirst-Ashman, 2016).
Synopsis
Lester is involved in the church, and he is also a worship leader,
he was used to living on his own and providing for
himself. Lester got into a vehicle that caused severe injuries,
which impaired his ability to keep his balance, walk, speak, and
be independent. His family is close by with his son living in a
metropolitan area and his brother and sister-in-law living
nearby. Lester suffered from intracerebral hemorrhaging; he
also had been through troubling times with alcohol during his
wife’s death because it was his coping mechanism for his
loss. His current condition is label catastrophic, his children
call but do not visit, his brother is in a hurry for him to get back
to normal, and his sister in law is at his bedside praying for him
and handling his finances, mail, And home’s upkeep. Lester is
depressed because of his situation, not being able to move
freely or used his hands correctly. Lester is in bad shape. He

6. cannot care for himself, as far as upkeeping his hygiene on his
own and feeding himself. He will need help with choosing
ongoing care after being discharged, and he will need assistance
in how his pension will be handled. He may need his family's
support if he goes back to his home, or his family may need to
decide to place him in a community care facility (Zastrow, &
Kirst-Ashman, 2016).

System perspective to social work practice
I would apply the micro-level system to the Lester because he
has many limitations that e will need to focus on to get better
this system is essential in social work because it empowers the
social work to assess the clients and the client’s needs. Another
method I would apply is the mezzo system because it will allow
me to bring in the family and set short and long term goals for
Lester. He needs assistance with basic life chores that include
but not limited to, cleaning himself, dressing, brushing his
teeth, etc. Meeting the family, I will know who I will be able to
task with specific responsibilities depending on their
relationship, availability, and the kind of importance Lester has
on that family member. The sister in law would be the most
prominent one to choose in caring for Lester because she is the
one that is most involved in his therapy. I would also apply the
mezzo social system or macro system depending on the size of
his church to assist him in his belief system through prayer and
worship (Zastrow, & Kirst-Ashman, 2016).
