- 2. Organisational- Gaffer Nature ofthe role The gaffer is in charge of making lists of what sources of lighting will be required and will often have to compromise if what’s needed isn’t accessible.. This job basically makes the gaffer in charge of all lighting and requires them to know the production inside out so they can take charge of their lighting crews. Organisational Job The Gaffer is a organisational job, I know this because organisational jobs require people to take charge of certain areas and make sure they are organised. The gaffer has to organise and decide what types of lighting equipment to use and they have to inform the lighting crew on what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Day to day duties Their day to day duties mainly consist of them liaising around relevant heads of departments, discussing all lighting aspects of the production. This is so they have the required information to take charge of the light crews. What their responsibilities are They’re responsible for managing the lighting crews, as well as creating lists for equipment that are needed in the production. They are in charge of the organisational side of the lighting, leaving them in charge of the positioning of the lights as well. Who they work with Gaffers directly work with lighting crews and the heads of each department, they share and gather relevant information with the heads of departments and pass the important information to the lighting crew.
- 3. Creative- Script Writer Natureof the role The script writers, creates the screenplay that will be viewed on air in writing form. The screenplay would include props, locations, characters and settings, which give a very detailed description about what is going on in the production. Creative job The script writer is a creative job, I know this because creative jobs are jobs that include generating ideas, this could be through writing, drawing, mood boards or mind maps. Script writers, write up ideas making them creative. Day to day duties Their day to day duties include them generating ideas for the production, writing down possible props, locations, settings and characters created by their team. They put all ideas created by their team in writing. What their responsibilities are The script writer is responsible for writing up the script, with the ideas that have been produced by the director, the script writing is responsible for the screenplay and has to ensure that all the props, characters, locations, settings and dialogue are correct. Who they work with The script writers work with a variety of people which include the directors, location managers, hair and make up, the actors and the people who choose the props. They have to take the given information from the mentioned sources and they have to apply it to the script in a clear and easily understandable way.
- 4. Editorial- Editor Nature ofthe role The nature of the role is to edit written, visual, audible and film media to convey the given information in a specific way. Editing is modifications which can be corrections, merges or cuts to make scenes become short and accurate. Editorial job Being an editor is a editorial job, I know this because editorial jobs are jobs where the individual has to make decisions about the final content. This means they have to decide the ordering in which certain clips are played and how long they last. Day to day duties Editors day to day duties include them liaising around with people who are more relevant to their work such as script writers, camera men and production managers so that the editor remains informed about the production and what they are going to have to edit. What their responsibilities are The editors are responsible for the final piece of the production, where all the gathered footage and information are merged together in a specific sequence to make the final production complete. Who they work with Editors work closely with the production managers, script writers and cameramen due to the areas the work in the production. The editor has to work with the script made by the script writer and the footage taken by the camera man. The production manager works closely with most people because they have to make sure that everything is going as planned.

Technical- Camera Operator Natureof the role The nature of the role is filming/photographing the shots that have been written by the script writer and following the story board so that the editor has all the needed shots to finish the production. Technical job Being a camera operator is a technical job, I know this because technical jobs require people to operate equipment with a specialists knowledge. The camera man is required to understand the use and all functions of the camera he is using. Day to day duties A camera operators day to day duties consist of them filming/photographing the needed shots for the production. This means they have to take instructions from the production manager, who will explain how each shot will have to be taken in order to make the films continuity correct. What their responsibilities are The camera operators responsibilities are everything to do with the actual production, they have to use the camera to take photographs and/or video footage related to the production. This means they have to take instructions from the production manager and follow the script and story board. Who they work with The camera operator has to work with the production manager, the editor, the script writer and the cast because he is the centre of the production. He receives information from the script writer and the production manager, so that he has an understanding of what he has to film. He then has to film the cast and give the taken footage to the editor.

Financial- Accountant Nature ofthe role The nature of an accountants role is to take all financial documents relating to the production in consideration, so they can help the managers decide a budget for each part of the production. This means the have to add up all the sources of funding and subtract that number by all the expenses of the production. Financial job Being a accountant is a financial job, I know this because financial jobs require expertise in terms of money and funding. Accountants take control of the production money, which mean they have to have a expertise within the financial area. Day to day duties An accountants day to day duties consist of them sorting out financial documents that both fund and cost. After that they have to subtract the funds by the costs and add the remaining budget to all money made after the production; this would normally be profit, but if the production loses out on money then they make no profit. What their responsibilities are The accountants responsibilities are sorting, adding, subtracting and creating rough estimations based on the calculations they have to make after viewing all the financial documents. Which will have individual costs on them, which the accountant would have to put together so that they know the total costs and budget. Who they work with The accountants work with managers, directors and producers more than everyone else because the accounts have to get the documents from them and have to keep the informed with the budgets each area of the production has and how much has been spent by each area and if its probable to make a compromise.

Management- Script Supervisor Natureof the role The nature of the script supervisors role is to watch over what the script writers are doing so that they can make sure that they haven't missed anything thin the script and to also keep them motivated. The supervisor will also take care of all the script writers enquiries. Management job Being a script supervisor is a management job, I know this because management jobs are jobs that require you to do work where you observe work progress and advise people who work below them. The script supervisor is basically just observing and advising the script writers. Day to day duties The script supervisors day to day duties consist of him observing and advising the script writers so they have all the information written down and are kept motivated, to maximise the quantity and quality of their work. What their responsibilities are The script supervisors responsibilities are to supervise the script writers and sort out any enquiries they may have, this could be anything to do with the production. For example who and what cast, props and locations that will appear in the production process. Who they work with The script supervisors mainly work with the script writers because hey have to keep a close eve on what they are doing, but might have to work with other people in the production who are more relevant such as production managers.

Research- Market Researcher Natureof the role The nature of the market researchers role is that they have to explore the market by checking the competitions productions and using the information from theirs to make their even better. This means they basically have to gather a bunch of information about other companies productions. Research job The market researcher is a research job, I know this because all research jobs require the person to find out information about certain areas of the production. The market researcher has to research the competition within their market. Day to day duties The market researchers day to day duties include them going to observing and analysing other companies movie productions, to give feedback to the company they work for, which will help the production. What their responsibilities are The market researchers responsibilities are completely research based, meaning they have to gather information about their competitors and their audience so that they have the edge over their competitors with their end productions. Who they work with The market researchers work with the production managers a lot due to the information about the production they have to give and receive in order the for company to make progress. Production managers have to make sure that the market researchers are retrieving the correct information about their competitors.

Administrative- Camera Department OverViewer Nature of the role The nature of the camera department over viewer is to supervise the cameraman and his assistant, they are also in charge of the camera equipment. This means they have to make enquiries about specific equipment needed by the cameraman and the camera assistant. Administrative job The camera department over viewer is a administrative job, I know this because administrative jobs are linked to the running of a business/production, so that means that its more on the organisational side. This means the fact that the camera department over viewer supervises and keeps all the camera equipment organised means that, that person has an administrative. Day to day duties The camera department over viewers day to day duties are to liaise around with relevant members of their department and camera equipment, whilst supervising the cameraman and the camera assistant activities under scheduled hours. What their responsibilities are The camera department over viewers responsibilities are to mainly supervise the cameraman and the camera assistant to make sure they maintain shots that can give the final production seamless continuity, also to keep them motivated. They are also responsible for the well being of all camera equipment that has been purchased, borrowed or rented. Who they work with The camera department over viewer mainly works with the cameraman and the camera assistant because that's who that person is mainly responsible for., but they allows work with other managers in order to give and receive information relevant to certain parties of a production.

Technical- Diane Collins(Vision Mixer) How she does her job Diane Collins does her job by receiving sources of vision, which can be cameras, graphics, tapes, live open broadcasts and then outputting the picture that the director wants her to. Her job is basically to cut up video sources and output them, whilst following the directors plans for the footage. What she enjoys about her job Diane Collins enjoys all areas of her job, but said that she particularly enjoyed doing music shows over the past year, this was because it added more variety to what she got to do whilst working in her job. Interesting things she does Diane Collins job as a vision mixer consists of a few things that I personally find interesting that are the problems that occur during live shows and the fact that there is no great way to prepare for a mistake that may occur during any live showings. Only experience can help prevent certain mistakes from happening. Work history Diane Collins doesn’t have a lot of work history. Her previous jobs consist of the odd random summer jobs, temping jobs and a job as a picture researcher. Collins got into the industry from a work place from a business diploma, which she left, then revisited whilst she was working as a picture researcher. Previous projects Diane Collins mostly does her projects live. The two main program areas that she works on are news and sport, which are always live. She also has done music shows over the past year and says that she really enjoyed doing them. What I have learnt I have learnt that the vision mixers isn't as glamorous as it seems no training can properly prepare you for what might happen on air. Vision mixers are left with moments to cut and upload images, videos, sounds and other sources of visional creativity, this means mistakes are very easy to make.
- 11. Creative- Nick Dudman(Make-up Effects Artist) How he does his job Nick Dudman does his job by applying specific props, make-up and creating creatures for motion pictures. This means that he has to be very creative when it comes to the appliance of makeup and props so that he makes the face or created creature look exactly how the director wants it. What he enjoys about his job Nick Dudman enjoys getting jobs in big movies because he loves gaining the publicity and the respect of others. He feels like being offered the a job in Batman to do Jack Nicholson was an amazing opportunity. Interesting things he does Nick Dudmans job as a make-up effects artist has a few areas that I find interesting which are the big roles they can receive and the fact that they pretty much have to be very creative to be able to create creatures such as ‘Gollum’ (a character from the lord of the rings) out of the appearance of a normal human being. Work history Nick Dudmans work history is apparently consists of like 99% of feature work and occasionally he might get asked to TV work. His work history is predominately all about make-up effects, which he even does certain work for free, just for the fun of it. He said that he has done things a like ageing, bizarre injuries and blown off legs for free because he finds them fun to do. Previous projects Nick Dudman has had many previous projects such as ‘Star Wars Episode V’, ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Labyrinth’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, ‘Willow’, ‘Batman’, ‘Alien 3’, and ‘Interview with the Vampire’, which have all been popular movies that have used expertise skills create amazing effects. What I have learnt I have learnt that make-up effects artists have crucial roles in all big film and TV productions due to their expertise in making creates, blood and gory look as realistic as possible. That is something that I never really considered until I read about what he does in his job.
