Digital technology has greatly impacted lives by enabling better communication through video calling services. This has allowed families and friends to stay connected during the pandemic. Today smartphones are the most popular way to access the internet, and people rely on search engines like Google to find information. Online shopping and video streaming have also grown enormously. The internet continues to change how people interact and do business in profound ways.

The internet has become fully integrated into our daily lives and has changed how we work, learn, shop and socialize.

It also outlines how consumers now use the internet and digital devices for many daily activities like searching for information, shopping online, watching videos, and how these behaviors are shifting. The conclusion addresses the environmental impact of the internet and calls for companies to reduce their carbon footprint through more sustainable practices.

Advanced Storytelling Concepts for MarketersEd Shimp
Every marketer knows you’re supposed to tell a story, but do you know how to tell a story? Do you know why you’re supposed to tell a story? Do you even truly know what a story is? While many marketing presentations emphasize the value of mythic storytelling, the nuts and bolts of actually constructing a story are never explored.
The goal of marketing may be to achieve specific KPIs that drive sales, which is very objective, but the top of the marketing funnel requires a softer approach. In our data-driven results-oriented fast-paced world, marketers must quantify results, but those results will never be achieved unless prospects are first approached with humanity.
There is a common misunderstanding that the so-called “soft skills” of marketing such as language and art are unmeasurable and subjective, but while the objective measures of market research are merely 100 years old, the rules of aesthetics have been perfected over the last 2,500 years.
Great story construction is a skill that requires significant knowledge and practice. This presentation will be a review of the ancient art of story construction.
We will discuss:
• Rhetoric – The art of effective communication
• The Socratic Method – You cannot teach, but you can persuade people to learn
• Plato’s Cave – You sell products, but you market ideas
• Aristotle’s Six Dramatic Elements – The secret recipe for marketing stories
This is for senior marketers who are tasked with creating effective narratives or guiding others in the process. By the end of the session, attendees will have gained the knowledge needed to work storytelling into all phases of the buyer’s journey.
Can you kickstart content marketing when you have a small team or even a team of one? Why yes, you can! Dennis Shiao, founder of marketing agency Attention Retention will detail how to draw insights from subject matter experts (SMEs) and turn them into articles, bylines, blog posts, social media posts and more. He’ll also share tips on content licensing and how to establish a webinar program. Attend this session to learn how to make an impact with content marketing even when you have a small team and limited resources.
Key Takeaways:
- You don't need a large team to start a content marketing program
- A webinar program yields a "one-to-many" approach to content creation
- Use partnerships and licensing to create new content assets

Introduction
How Consumers use technology and it’s impact on our lives
There are equally positive and negative impacts of technology on society today.
Some positives are being able to connect and communicate with friends and family and
purchase, sell and review products.
Another positive is the ability to learn and gain an education and qualifications via online
learning methods. Many universities now also offer online degrees and master’s qualifications.
Technology has created a whole field of jobs and many platforms to build and advertise
businesses. We are also now able to manage our finances online.
With positives do come negatives which can include financial security and privacy
issues, with a lot of scammers and hackers having the ability to hack into people’s
security details and committing fraud, and even take people’s full identities.
Social Media has become a large part of our current society and for as much as it
provides a great space for communication and business,
It has also created a very negative space for people, with a lot of online bullying, and
also negatively impacting young people’s perception of
Image and beauty standards.

Access to the Internet

There are many ways in which people can
access the internet.
This can be via phone, laptop, gaming
consoles, TVs, etc, and you can access a
wide range of knowledge and information.
A computer scientist named Berners-Lee is
the known creator of the world wide web
and he created this in 1984.
It was Berners-Lee who envisioned an
information system where people
around the world would be able to
access information and resources
using the internet. He also writes the
foundational Hypertext Markup
Language (HTML) and Hypertext
Transfer Protocol

What consumers buy online

In a post written for Forbes ‘what will customers be buying in
2022’ it is suggested that as a lot of people are becoming more
accustomed to staying at home, there may be an increase in
sales in home furnishings, and in keeping with the theme of
staying at home a lot more people have turned to crafts and
DIY for there creative outlets and time passing activities. There
also seems to have been an increase in those wanting to own
pets, which will surely see an increase in buying pet supplies
also. Erdly,C.(2021). What will customers be purchasing in
2022?In Forbes
Nazir (2022), explains in an article called ‘Four Retailers who
had gone online-only’
written for Retail Gazette, that UK stores TM, Cath Kidston
Topshop (who have been purchased by online retailer ASOS),
Debenhams, and Aurora Fashion (home retailers Oasis,
Karen Millen, Coast, and Warehouse) both of which have
been purchased by online retailer Boohoo, who plans to take
them online.

Summary
It is clear to see how prevalent technology is in people’s lives. It is used to
organise and arrange our lives, stay connected with people and enjoy
experiences. At all routes, technology is used, from booking cinema tickets to
online shopping to booking taxis or arranging our schedules and managing our
businesses. Although there can be some negatives too so much technology with
less physical interaction, and less time using our brains, technology overall serves
a very useful purpose in society. A lot of studying and research is completed
online now, along with the creation of businesses. Convenience is a key point
when it comes to technology saving millions of people time and money every
second of every day.

HOW AUDIENCES
USE
TECHNOLOGY
AND ITS IMPACT
ON THEIR LIVES
Hi, my name is Maxine Owens and today I’m going to talk to you about how audiences use technology
and its impacts on their lives.
Technology has been around for many years, but not as we see it today.
When we look at the technology that we can use for our own entertainment or convenience, the radio
was one of the first pieces of technology invented for that purpose, it was invented in 1901 which added
very little at the time to our everyday lives and is only really used for entertainment purposes. Fast
forward to today and the radio is still used for entertainment, but also for advertisement, local traffic,
weather, news, for businesses to grow and get noticed, etc. Since the creation of the radio, we now
have televisions, computers, and smartphones, all of which can now display the internet.
The internet of which was created in 1984 by computer scientist Berners Lee, although it may be less
known that the protocols required to use the World Wide Web were created in 1979 by computer
scientists Vint Cerf and Robert Khan.
The creation of internet has created a connection and mutual language like no other. Connecting all
countries and nationalities. People are now able to communicate with each other all over the world
within seconds, documents and speech translators now exist at the click of a button and books can be
read from authors all over the world, lectures and education can be delivered to anyone without the
need to leave your home.
13. z
From my own research I came across an article written for Germany News by
Mr. K Edwards called ‘World eCommerce statistics’ and in this article was a
graph that displayed ‘the percentage of the world population using the internet
from 2015-2020.l, he suggests in 2015 there was 91% of the population using
the internet and by 2020 this figure had increased to 100%.
He also demonstrates the share of the online population shopping online and
noted in 2016 it was at 50% and by 2020 this had increased to 68%.
I found this interesting as my research lead me to discover several UK retailers
that had closed their physical premises and taken their company online. An
article I came across written for Retail Gazette by Sahar Nazir, in April this
year, that four major retailers had gone online-only, including TM Lewin, Cath
Kidston which was revealed would be closing 60 of their UK stores, Topshop,
which was purchased by online retailer ASOS, Debenhams and Aurora
Fashion (who house Oasis, Karen Millen, Coast, and Warehouse) had been
purchased by online retailer Boohoo. It seems a lot of the UK clothing retailers
seem to be the first to head towards a predominantly online experience.
14. z
And that is just the retail industry. When looking at how technology is affecting
our lives, a closer look into online video consumption can give us a brief view of
how or where a lot of people are spending their time.
According to Statista, YouTube had the highest Global active usage penetration of
leading social networks with 62% followed by Facebook with 61% and WhatsApp
with 52%. Looking at Netflix we can see from statistics in appintv the number of
demographic users in 2022 with the US at 64%, and the lowest was the UK at
38%.
When looking at the online gaming industry it is stated in forest interactive for an
article on the rise that there are an estimated 2 billion people gaming monthly
and 90% of these gamers are using their handheld smartphones.
Technology is highly prevalent in people’s lives, it is used to organise and arrange
our lives, stay connected with people and enjoy experiences. It is used to manage
our finances, shopping, and education. If I was to summarise how audiences use
technology and its impact on their lives, I would say the beauty that lies with
technology is quite simply connection, communication, and creativity.
