2. Purpose of the documentary
The purpose of this documentary is to make people think about things that they possibly
haven't thought about before, I.e. views of philosophers regarding religion
Perhaps allow people to become much more open minded and less opinionated when it
comes to religion.
What would people learn about my topic from
the documentary
Throughout my documentary my people would learn about other cultured and religions
views on religion
They also learn debates therefore allowing them to learn two sides of the argument, they
will be able to choose what side they most agree with.
3. Camera shot (close-up)
Camera shot (extreme close–up)
•A close-up shot is used whilst the man is
being interviewed
•This is great for showing facial expression
•Rule of thirds is used here, the placement of
the man is on the far right, perhaps
indicating that he is unhappy
•I like this camera shot and the use of
composition and wish to use it in my
documentary
•I like the use of extreme close-up which shows
the image in greater detail
•Here it is used to show the severity of his
weight.
•I will use extreme close-ups in my
documentary if I want to show something in
much greater detail
4. Establishing shot
Shot reverse shot
•In this documentary they have used an
establishing shot to establish the scene.
•This was to show where exactly an expert
interview was taking place, in order to
orientate the audience.
The composition of Balance is shown, in this
image as the building is placed in the centre
ensuring the image is more appealing to look
at.
•Here is an expert interview. A shot reverse
shot is used to show them having a
conversation.
I would like to use shot reverse shot, and
artificial lighting when I interview people for
my documentary
The artificial use of lighting helps to give
a immersive, clear image.
5. Inter titles
Voiceover
Archival footage
•Inter titles are used to identify a particular
individual
•I like the use of colour, as it is a light colour
placed on a dark background, making it
•visible
•The size of the inter titles aren't to small,
or too large, they are a good size
I would like the credits in my documentary
to resemble these
•As their is a voiceover explaining a particular
event, there are many cuts of different
buildings. These cuts include different camera
angles, i.e. Ariel shots, wide shots etc.
•This keeps the audience engaged visually
•I will have many cuts of a variety of things
while their is a voiceover to engage the
audience
•Here archival footage is shown, as evidence
or even a reminder of occurred in the past
•I will use archival footage in my
documentary, to show people past events
