Course: APTE 7504 Vehicle Electronic Diagnosis
Assessment name: Presentation (individual)
Weighting: 30% (30 Marks)
Due date: Week 6
Submission procedure: Oral presentation with PowerPoint slides.
Learning Outcomes:
This task relates to Learning Outcome 1
Purpose:
The purpose of this assessment is to examine the operation and design
of vehicle electronic systems so that an in-depth understanding is
gained. This knowledge will be used for diagnosing faults in vehicle
electronic systems.
Instruction:
(Time for presentation - 15mins)
Research and evaluate the design and operation of one of the following
vehicle electronic systems:
Possible systems include: Smart Airbags System [Supplementary
Restraint System (SRS)], smart/adaptive lighting systems, climate
control system, adaptive cruise control systems. Students can also
choose their own vehicle electronic system in consultation with the
lecturers.
Present your findings and evaluation in the form of a PowerPoint oral
presentation. You must reference all sources of information and ensure
your sources are reliable.
Content
In the presentation of your chosen system you must address the
following:
1. Latest technologies in use in automobiles
2. Design of the system (the various components that form the
system: sensors, actuators, electronic controllers,
communications. Also, their connections in block diagrams and
wiring diagrams)
3. Purpose and operation of the system and its relationship with any
other systems in the vehicle
4. Possible ways in which the system could malfunction (e.g.
component failure) and its effect on the operation of the system.
5. Future trends of the system design
Marking
You will be marked on the criteria outlined in the marking criteria and will
consider how well you have addressed the various items listed in the
content section and your clarity and creativity in the presentation.
