GUN CONTROL
What underlying issues are being debated in the readings?




Concern the efficacy of the gun control law is actually reducing violent crime.
How the second amendment to the U.S Constitution should be interpreted.
Where more legistration is needed or whether better enforcement of current
legistration is required.
According to supporters of stricter gun control, what are some possible advantages
in favor of supporting the issue?




Gun control increased regulations could significantly reduce the number and scale
of gun related violent crimes.
Limiting the number of guns can lower the number of homicides.

According to those in opposition, what are some possible disadvantages to stricter gun control
laws?



Unable to bear arms could put families at harm because criminals will have to upper
hand having illegal guns.
Better safety controls on guns can place unfair burdens on the manifesting plants.

What fallacies of reasoning emerge from the debate?



Guns are only used to kill people and commit crimes.
Stricter gun laws can prevent gun violent and lower crime rates.

What alternative policy/programs have been proposed or might be developed?


A system of gun registration for weapons and their owners. It will be similar to the
system for license and registration of motor vehicles.

What implications does the debate have for families in society?



Families will be safer with stricter gun control laws.
Leaving gun control laws the same will help families have guns to hunt. Families can
hunt to prove meat for their family.
Gun control laws should be stricter when passing a back ground check to purchase a gun. The
owner has to go through a background check to get a gun from licensed dealer. If people go to a
flea market or a yard sale they can buy a firearm without passing that check. Also in the original
background check they don't check your mental health. I believe that mental health check should
be a requirement to get any kind of gun. The person getting the gun should have to go through a
psychic evaluation before they can pick up their gun. In recent news most of the school shooters
have had mental health problems. If may have run in the family so the shooters wouldn't have
had cactus to the weapons.
Gun violence and gun crimes are at a high now a days. If gun control laws were stricter then the
criminals would have a harder time getting a hold of a gun. Gun violence would be less if criminals
couldn't get a hold of weapons any time they want. Getting a gun should have a system that if
you move with your gun you have to tell the police where you moved. If you sell you gun, you
have to have them pass the background check before you sell it to them. After you sell the gun
tell the police who you sold it to and where it will be keep as in the address. If the person with a
gun original didn't do that he or she would have consequences. If we had a system like that it
would be harder to get a gun.
One arguments is that people have guns for self-defense. So, most people keep their guns at their
home. Statistics state guns kept in the house have killed friends or family members 43 times more
than using it on an intruder. The law should have it mandatory for gun owners to have a gun case
or safe locked at all times unless being used by an adult or being cleaned then right back up with
the others. So, children or teenagers can't get a hold of them.
In conclusion, gun control should be stricter because of crime and gun violence.
People getting guns that have mental health issues and shooting people senselessly. Also
accidental shooting with having a gun for self-defense.
