MGMT 1120 Course Project InstructionsInstructions
You will be completing Parts 1 through 4 in small groups and submitting a written report. The report will include an introduction, a conclusion, and headings for each of the (4) parts. One report will be submitted for each group.
To complete this project, you will be reading and analyzing the following case, Harlequin Enterprises: Assessing e-books. For more instructions regarding retrieving the case study, please go to the end of this document.
Your group will act as consultants to the organization presented in the case. To help this organization, you will 1) identify the major problem/decision facing the organization, 2) complete internal and external analyses that you have learned in the course to make sure you understand and can apply important information from the case that relates to solving this problem, 3) identify three feasible alternatives to solving the problem/decision, 4) make a recommendation for how the organization should solve the problem (or make their decision), including an action plan that includes specific steps.
At the conclusion of the project, each student will submit his or her own individual reflection for Part 5, on the same day that the group project is due.
Here is a more detailed breakdown of each of the parts:
Part 1: Identify the problem that management needs to solve. What priority decision needs to be made? Make sure you describe the nature of the problem and why it is important; i.e., what impact will this decision have on the organization and other stakeholders?
Part 2: Perform some analyses to help you determine what factors are important for management to consider in making this decision:
a. SWOT analysis
b. NPEST analysis
c. Porter’s 5-Force Analysis
d. Stakeholder analysis
For each of these analyses, present the analyses (use a table or lists if this helps to make the information more clear). Then, write a brief paragraph after each analysis summarizing the highlights of that analysis that you think are most relevant to this decision. You will need more information about this particular industry or about environmental factors, so you will have to do some research. You will need at least 5 (five) sources (Wikipedia and the Dictionary do not count as sources.)
Part 3: Based on your analyses, identify 3 (three) possible decisions you might make. In other words, what are three reasonable alternatives that management might choose to pursue to help solve this problem? (Don’t forget to consult Chapter 7 as you consider strategic options.)
For each of these three options, identify what you perceive to be the pros and cons of pursuing that particular alternative. Use the information you discovered in your analyses and course concepts to guide you, and try to list as many as you can think of. Resist the urge to make a decision too soon!!! Try to remain objective as you consider each alternative.

Interview
Interview a teacher in the elementary grades regarding the teacher’s social studies instruction. Include at least eight questions.
Assessment item 3 - Critical Reflective Blogs
Value: 45%
Length: 700 words per blog (maximum)
Total: 2800 words
TASK
The purpose of this assignment is to complete critical reflective blogs for four OB topics covered in the subject. The aim of this assignment is to enable you to highlight thoughts on each topic as well as demonstrate your understanding of the topics covered in this subject.
In this assessment, you have to reflect on four OB topics of your choice. You can choose from the following topics:
• Topic 4: Getting the right people
• Topic 5: Work and job performance and conditions
• Topic 6: Assessing, influencing and rewarding performance
• Topic 7: Grouping individuals and behaviour; Organisational change; Organisational
culture
• Topic 8: Organisational processes and behaviour
• Topic 9: Leadership
• Topic 10: Organisational justice and employee wellbeing
A starting question for your reflection should be: What is the applicability and relevance of OB theory/model/concepts covered in the specific OB topic for me as a practitioner in my workplace? Discrepancies between the theory and practice should be explored, and implications for your workplace identified.
For students who may not have work experience, you may use newspapers or academic journal articles that discuss an OB trend/issue in an existing Australian or international organisation. Alternatively, you can do your own research on an organisation of your choice, and focus your reflection on the imagined influence this organisational context (in relation to the specific OB topic) would have on you.
The structure of the reflection blogs should follow the following four steps in order to enhance the analytical aspect of the reflection process and to ensure the benefits of this assignment for you and your development in the organisation:
1. Reflect on a workplace experience that is meaningful and important to you and your growth in the organisation (reflection should draw on your personal observations, experiences, assumptions and emotions).
2. Analyse the chosen situation by applying relevant OB concepts/theories/models from the relevant Topic.
3. Develop a strategy for managing own or other employee(s) behaviour with the purpose of addressing the workplace situation.
4. Explain what you have learned about the relevant OB topic/yourself/others in the workplace as a result of this reflection exercise.
Each reflection needs to be based on three recent scholarly articles. As this is a reflection where you are using your own experiences and views, your blogs should be written in first person.
A quality reflection shows deep critical analysis of workplace experiences through the application of OB theories/models/ concepts. It provides deep insights into the practitioner’s own practice. This is an opportunity to express your voice on workplace trends that are important to you.

Ashford 5: - Week 4 - Discussion 1
Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the
Discussion Forum Grading Rubric
for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.
Share Your Action Research Study
Action research is a form of inquiry in which a problem is identified and a series of actions are planned as a way of gaining deeper understanding of the range of possible solutions. The purpose of this discussion is to promote reciprocal sharing of your final action research report with others in your community of practice (your peers in this course) who would value the knowledge you have gained through the action research process. In this discussion, you will create a presentation using the software of your choice (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Docs, Present.me, YouTube, Prezi, Jing, SlideRocket, or another program) to present your findings to your school at an after school staff meeting. Include speaker notes if using PowerPoint. If using a program other than PowerPoint, submit a document with speaker notes included for each slide.
There are two parts to this discussion.
Part 1:
Share the process and results of the action research planned in EDU671 and conducted in EDU675. At a minimum:
Describe the purpose of your study by writing a statement that completes the following sentence, “The purpose of this study is to…” (two to three sentences).
Post your research question(s) - Include definitions of key technical terms, if necessary. (one to three sentences)
Outcomes/Results The “so what?” of your study—Answers to your research questions. (three to four sentences)
Assuming you would conduct another cycle of this study, what specific modifications or adjustments would you make, and why? (three to four sentences)
Explain why this study is important to the school and the students. ( two to three sentences)
Explain why this study is important it is important for teachers and other educational practitioners to become researchers of their own practice. (two to three sentences)
Part 2:
Attach a link to your
ePortfolio (Pathbrite)
.
In one paragraph, reflect on your experience with the redesign of the Week Three Assignment in terms of challenges you encountered and how you overcame those challenges. Also include how your assessment promotes learning and innovation skills and how it could be used as a tool for ongoing evaluation of student progress.
Use the
PowerPoint Template
as a guide to help create a high quality presentation.
Alternate:
If you do not have your own completed action research to utilize, you will take a slightly different approach to complete this discussion: Using the Ashford University Library, locate and analyze a peer-reviewed educational action research study. You will follow the same guidelines in Part 1 of the discussion.

Your director reminds you that your Lead Teacher had volunteered to run the Health, Safety, and Nutrition Community Night in two weeks, and now that responsibility falls on you! She has a nutritionist scheduled to come in and address your chosen age group. The nutritionist has a presentation prepared and she is willing to answer questions after the presentation.
You will need to create two different fun activities that can be used to teach the community how to enforce health and safety measures at home. This community night will also serve as professional development for the staff. Your director has asked for everything to be submitted in the next week so she can help you plan and gather materials. She has also told you that you will have access to as many teachers as you need (for extra support), but you will need to conduct an initial meeting to brief them on the night. This will be a fabulous opportunity for you to impress her!
Using the

· Describe a nutritious snack to be served at the event.
· Plan two activities (one health and one safety) for the event.
· Create five open-ended questions to ask the nutritionist.
· Develop a detailed schedule of the evening in 15-minute increments.
· Discuss resources to give the attendees regarding health, safety, and nutrition.
· Discuss an extension activity that attendees can teach/play at home.
· Create 3-5 questions for the attendees to evaluate the evening.
· Design a plan to involve the attendees with clean up.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
