This document outlines a study on the prevalence of asymptomatic bacteriuria in type 2 diabetic patients at a tertiary care hospital in Chennai. The study aims to determine the prevalence of asymptomatic bacteriuria, analyze the organisms responsible and their antimicrobial sensitivity, and examine associations between asymptomatic bacteriuria and patient characteristics like age and diabetes duration. A cross-sectional study of 200 type 2 diabetic outpatients will collect urine samples to test for bacteriuria and blood samples for glucose and HbA1c levels. Appropriate consent will be obtained and precautions taken to minimize risks and protect patient privacy.
