Mozambican artist Coana started painting at age 7 and showed his artworks in group exhibitions from age 11. He uses his colorful artwork to promote human rights and gender equality, with exhibitions in over 15 countries. Coana has lived in Beijing for the last 3 years where he has organized solo and group exhibitions displaying his paintings of Africa. He is also a board member of an organization promoting cultural exchange between African and Chinese youth.
Young Mozambican Artist Promotes Social Issues Through Vibrant Art
1. COANA
Mozambican born young artist started painting at his 7 years old , taught in the youth arts program of National Art Museum in
Mozambique at his 11 years old where he started to show his artworks in group art exhibitions.
Coana has built awareness about social issues through his colorful artworks, organizing exhibitions to promote Human Rights and
Gender equality. His artwork is featured in the collection of National Art Museum and at public and private collections in Italy,
France, Portugal, Germany, United States of America, Mozambique, Japan, South Africa, Brasil, China, The Netherlands, India,
Singapore, New Guinea Papua, England and Seychelles Islands.

together” in 2008.
Coana is a member of board of directors of Young African Professionals and Students in China- YAPS, is an association created by
African and Chinese young leaders, aimed to link initiaves to promote cultural exchange and young leadership between Africans
and Chinese young people.
