endeavours

the

offering
you
another

each
of
our
unique
visions
of
this
land
we
speak
of
our
individual
journeys,
portraying
a
response
to
this
through
our
chosen
mediums.
Our
work
is
so
disparate
in
execu/on
but
by
combining
in
exhibi/on
there
is
a
harmony
and
common
understanding.
We
offer
one
another
a
balance,
a
yin
and
yang
of
techniques
and
imagery
linked
by
the
one
theme
of
place.

treatment

surfaces

seemingly
deliberately
opposed
to
the
tradi/onal
“roughness”
of
sculp/ng
material.
Such
feeling
is
not
incidental
and
comes
from
the
way
the
material
is
treated,
and,
in
this
territory,
Svilen
Petrov’s
crea/ve
thinking
can
be
defined
as
pronouncedly
elegant.
This
is
hardly
fortuitous,
considering
his
sculpture
educa/on
at
the
Na/onal
Academy
of
Arts
in
Sofia
in
the
1980-­‐ies.
And
his
high
professional
skills
are
obviously
well-­‐
appreciated
in
Abu
Dhabi,
where
he
chose
to
live
many
years
ago.
Svilen
Petrov
works
mainly
with
stone
and
bronze,
and
his
crea/ons
seem
connected
with
the
classic
forms
and
the
early
decades
of
European
sculpture
modernism,
rather
than
with
fashionable
trends.
This
is
an
inten/onal
choice,
opposed
to
the
modern
sculpture,
which
seems
to
be
falling
apart
and
losing
its
integrity.
Such
decision
deserves
respect
because
there
is
no
“right”
or
“wrong”
in
modern
art.
Upholding
of
certain
plas/c
means
of
expression
represents
a
cultural
choice
associated
with
the
self-­‐asser/on
of
each
ar/st
in
their
specific
context,
and
Svilen
Petrov’s
tradi/onalism
is
of
the
type
evoking
pure
joy
–
and
making
the
world
a
good
place
to
live.

landscape

to

my

true

form

its

my

evalua/on

parallel

those

the
Japanese
masters);

commonly

false
environments

fauna
urban

source

inspira/on.

themes
serve
as
a
pretext
to
experiment
forms
of
graphic
and
colorful
harmonies
in
human
construc/ons
associated
with
organic
forms
of
plant
or
processing
a
simple
vegetal
view
into
a
jungle
fantasy.

choice
of
a
single
theme
allows
forgeong
about
the
subject
in
order
to
focus
only
on
the
