The Kovalam-Poovar coastal belt in Kerala, which includes beaches like Kovalam and Kanwatheertha, is being redeveloped by Kerala Tourism as a world-class tourism destination by 2042. A 30-year vision and development plan is being created for the corridor, which will include infrastructure development, environmental protection, and improving living standards for local communities. Consultants have been hired to study the area and prepare macro-level and micro-level development plans, with interim reports due in 2-3 months and a final report due in 6 months. The goal is sustainable tourism development while preserving the social and cultural heritage of the region.
