A Victorian author who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1822. He attended a Jesuit boarding school in England for 7 years. He later studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and sought a career as a doctor. He wrote short stories and novels in his early life. He is most famous for creating the character Sherlock Holmes and writing novels and short stories featuring the detective. Some of his most famous works include A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, and The Hound of the Baskervilles.
