EDUC1751 Assessment Task 1 Virtual Presentation By Jordan Cabarrus C3090490
Quick Definition The term ‘technological artefact’ for this presentation has been understood as any tool used by teachers in the education system to teach. This could be simply blackboards or for a more present tool smart boards.
Introduction This presentation consists of describing two different technological artefacts that are used in education. One artefact is a good example of a useful and appropriate educational tool while the other is a bad example and should not be used excessively.
Edmodo Good Artefact
What is Edmodo? Edmodo is an interactive site similar to Facebook, where updates can be shared within social groups. It is a free social working environment encouraging the pursuit of communication within education.
Why is Edmodo good? Free to join and participate. An interactive and dynamic learning environment. Easy to use. Teachers can upload any bit of information. Makes for quick communication between teachers and students outside of school. Encourages student learning outside of school. Integrates education within a secure social context. Progressive way to interact with students of this generation in a technological world.

Wikipedia Bad Artefact
What is Wikipedia? Wikipedia is a free encyclopaedia on everything, but more accurately it is the collective facts from numerous sources on every possible concept. Wikipedia has been in use for quite sometime now and is very common in today’s society.
Why is Wikipedia bad? Incorrect or false information. Unreliable sources. Plants an unethical or ‘lazy’ approach to research within students. Too common; has now become the ‘go to’ or ‘one stop shop’ site for all information. Unless students understand how to utilise Wikipedia properly it should not be used.

Conclusion The quality of any artefact is ultimately dependant upon how the teacher uses it. As technology and society advance, a greater need for innovative teaching techniques and the tools or artefacts used in education will arise. It is therefore important to understand the implications of different artefact usage and also know the alternative artefacts that could be used for different situations.
The End Thankyou and Goodnight
