This document discusses and analyzes several artworks including Joan Jonas's 1971 video art piece "Nova Scotia Beach Dance" and Sally Mann's photograph "The Two Virginias". It also includes the author's own photographs such as "Inner Me" and "Eye of the Beholder" along with their reactions and analysis of the artworks. The author chose their own photos to depict themes of community and support systems. They felt Jonas's work conveyed youth, freedom and making the most of time together. Mann's portrait conveyed respect for the subject and their impact on the artist.
2. Nova Scotia Beach Dance by Joan Jonas
made in 1971, art21.com
Joan Jonas loved making
video art, sculptures,
installation, drawings, she
decide to mash it up and
create a picture with
dance to capture a
different type of art. They
are all different but tells
the same story.

I choose four of
these pictures
because like the
artist work, it
shows a support
system. They
have someone to
have fun, and be
around, and know
that if anything
would go wrong
they are there for
them. Plus they
are beating to
their own drum.
They are
excerising, but at
the same time
they are doing it
in their own way,
with people
similar to them.
My reaction to
the artist work
is that it has a
lot of joy and
youth and they
are free. It
seems like it's
the last time
they are going
to see each
other so they
are just trying to
make the day
last and enjoy
life.
4. Sally Mann and The Two Virginias
by Sally Mann on September 12,
2014, Art21.com
.
This picture was
taken by the artist to
give respect to a lady
that took care of her
and her brothers when
she was growing up.
Also Mann's daughter
is named after this
lady. The incredible
lady is Virginia
Franklin Carter.
5. Inner me by manoella

2015, my phone
This picture is of
someone that
inspires me to be
better person
everyday. She is
the one person
that I truly care
for. I decide to
take a picture of
her because I see
so much of her in
me that I one day
I want her to be
proud of me.
My reaction to the
artist work is that
the picture is a
simple close up
picture that says a
thousand words. It
is a strong picture
and just by looking
at the lady's eyes,
that the lady might
have went through
so much just to be
who she is.
6. “Lips” by Hans-Peter
Feldmann on November 7
2012, Art21.com
The story behind this
was because
Feldmann was
always interested in
how certain artists
can make you
understand their work
by a single glance or
touch. They made
him realize the whole
point of the art work
instead of an
individual part to it
and sometimes you
have to start out
small to end big.
7. Eye of the beholder by Manoella sindjui,
January 19, 2015, my phone and ipad
I decided to take a picture of
people's eyes because the
eyes is one of the beautiful
thing god has created, plus
you can tell a lot by looking
at a person's eyes.
I picked the lips collage because
I feel like that is inner beauty
even though it's on the outside.
People usually judge someone
by how they look, but if you
first look at the lips or eyes
before looking at their face, you
can see and read who they are as
a person
My reaction to the rtist work is
that it seems like a blind date.
Before you can see someone's
full appearance, you look at
their lips and try to figure out
who they are by the color of the
lips and how posture of it. They
all might have the same color or
might be doing the same thing,
but it's on you to see the
difference. It like you're judging
someone by their appearance to
see if that is the type of person
you want to be around or not.
