Introduction To Sikkim
•Sikkim, state in India is located in the northeastern part of the
country, in the eastern Himalayas. It is one of the smallest states
in India. Sikkim is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region
of China to the north and northeast, by Bhutan to the southeast,
by the Indian state of West Bengal to the south, and by Nepal to
the west. The capital is Gangtok, in the southeastern part of the
state. A part of the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for
its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well
as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in
India and third highest on Earth. Sikkim's capital and largest city
is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by
the Khangchendzonga National Park. Long a sovereign political
entity, Sikkim became a protectorate of India in 1950 and an
Indian state in 1975. Its small size notwithstanding, Sikkim is of
great political and strategic importance for India because of its

⮚ It is a strategically located hill State covering an area of 7096 sq kms (which accounts for 0.2% of the
total area of India) Sikkim is one of the smallest States in India both in terms of populaItion and area.
The present population of Sikkim stands at 6.32 lakhs (approx.) Sikkim is encircled by three different
international boundaries. To its West lies Nepal and Bhutan, to its East the Tibet Autonomous Region of
the People’s Republic of China and to its South, Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council of West Bengal. Sikkim is
recognized as one of the special category States of the country and has been recently inducted as the
8th member of the North Eastern Council of States.
Delhi
⮚ Delhi, officially the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is a city and a union
territory of India containing New Delhi, the capital of India. Straddling the Yamuna river, primarily its
western or right bank, Delhi shares borders with the state of Uttar Pradesh in the east and with the state
of Haryana in the remaining directions. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 square kilometres
(573 sq mi). According to the 2011 census, Delhi's city proper population was over 11 million,while the
NCT's population was about 16.8 million. Delhi's urban agglomeration, which includes the satellite cities
of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and NOIDA in an area known as the National Capital Region (NCR),
has an estimated population of over 28 million, making it the largest metropolitan area in India and
the second-largest in the world (after Tokyo).
