A400 M Training: A Multi-National Solution Set
These slides were presented during the Trade Media 2012 event held at Madrid, Spain and Toulouse, France in May 2012.
The briefing was provided by Ian Burrett, Heading of Training and Aircrew Operations, Customer Services for Airbus Military.
The A400M is not a platform; it is a fleet and a system. Training and operational support are critical components of the overall capability of the product.
The program has shaped an approach to providing integrated training and Ops support via an integrated network.
The plane has a very automated loadmaster system which means that a “typical” operational involving transport would see a three person crew on board, pilot, co-pilot and loadmaster.
The international training center opened in October 2010 and is the hub for the multinational training. As the equipment and tools are installed, the center will be ready for training in the summer of 2012.

The aviation industry in India is the 9th largest market globally and is poised to become the 3rd largest by 2020. It carried over 162 million domestic and international passengers in 2017 through over 85 international airlines and 5 Indian carriers connecting over 40 countries. The industry faces challenges like rising fuel costs and congestion but prospects are strong with the emergence of low-cost carriers, modernization of airports, and encouraging private investment in infrastructure.
This document summarizes international regulations for aviation maintenance implemented by airlines. It discusses the roles of key international organizations that establish standards, including ICAO, EASA, FAA, and national authorities. It also outlines the regulatory structure for aircraft airworthiness management over the maintenance lifecycle, including requirements for certification of aircraft, maintenance organizations, staff, and processes for scheduled maintenance, repairs and release to service.
- The document compares existing Civil Aviation Safety Regulations to proposed new Parts 42, 66, 145 and 147 regulations.
- Key changes include introducing outcome-based legislation with acceptable means of compliance, separating continuing airworthiness management from maintenance activities, and requiring regular public transport operators to use approved continuing airworthiness management and maintenance organizations.
- Implementation will transition existing privileges to new licensing categories over time without loss of privileges.
This document discusses the requirements for a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO). It outlines that a CAMO must have a Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME) approved by the aviation regulator that defines its procedures. Key roles like the Accountable Manager, Continuing Airworthiness Manager, and Quality Manager are described along with their responsibilities to ensure compliance with regulations and airworthiness standards. The document also discusses the use of Maintenance Programs, Master Minimum Equipment Lists, and Deferred Item Lists by CAMOs.

It notes that while CRM aims to facilitate lifetime loyalty through repeat business, RM aims to optimize short-term revenues and profits. This can create conflicting objectives between CRM, which focuses on individual customers long-term, and RM, which focuses on market segments and transactions. The document proposes developing customer relationship revenue management (CRRM) to better align CRM and RM by personalizing offers and availability based on individual customer value and preferences. This could help address conflicts between loyalty programs and RM practices.
