The document provides information about the European Energy Manager training program. It discusses the benefits of becoming an energy manager, such as reducing energy costs and carbon footprint. The training program teaches management and engineering skills over 19 days and provides access to an online forum. Participants develop energy saving projects for their companies. Successful projects can save an average of 750 MWh and $40,000 per year while paying back investments in 3-4 years. The certification is valid for 3 years and helps energy managers save energy and money at their workplaces.

This document provides an overview and update on carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects and policy in Europe. It discusses the swift progress of the EU policy process in supporting CCS, including funding and legislation, as well as the role of collaborative technology platforms. Large scale CCS projects are under development that could be funded through the New Entrant Reserve 300 mechanism. Accelerating CCS deployment will require improved timelines, strengthened collaboration, reduced costs, agreed standards, and addressing public awareness and support for the technology.
Preparing the Low Carbon Workforce: An Assessment of Education and Skills Pro...Gareth Morris
The document discusses preparing the workforce for jobs in the growing low carbon economy. It outlines that the UK aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 to mitigate climate change. This low carbon transition is expected to create many new jobs in areas like renewable energy, energy efficiency retrofits, and low carbon exports. However, barriers include a lack of understanding about "green" jobs and a need to better prepare future business and political leaders. Both further and higher education are expanding course offerings related to low carbon topics to help develop the necessary skills. Local examples highlight the scale of the transition needed in areas like retrofitting homes and training demand for renewable technology jobs.
The document discusses a Euro-Mediterranean project to integrate regional energy markets and promote national plans for energy efficiency. It focuses on presenting budget allocation charts for different countries, including Egypt. The charts compare the costs of conventional energy to various renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies to help decision-makers determine the most cost-effective investment options. Methodologies are described for selecting relevant technologies and measuring their potential energy savings and generation for each country. Preliminary outputs were generated but more data is still needed, particularly for energy efficiency measures.
The document provides an overview of a feasibility study for a bilateral offset credit mechanism (BOCM) on mass rapid transit (MRT) systems in Vietnam. It discusses introducing MRT systems to promote modal shift from road transport, which would reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The study aims to develop measurement, reporting, and verification methodologies to quantify emission reductions from MRT projects under BOCM. Initial results from the 2011 study year include proposed project boundaries, a framework for calculating emissions reductions, and a trial estimation of reduction potential for a fictional MRT line in Vietnam.

This document summarizes a study on measuring and regulating carbon emissions from transportation. Transport emissions are the main contributor to growing emissions. The study developed a carbon measurement methodology, measured emissions within a European distribution network, and evaluated the impact of various regulatory scenarios. The results showed reductions are possible but opportunities remain limited by capacity, service constraints, and costs increasing with emissions reductions. Current regulations are not very effective at reducing emissions overall. More drastic changes are needed to meet emissions targets.
The document provides an outline for a curriculum on business administration focusing on innovative financing models for energy efficiency and renewable energy deployment, specifically Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs. It discusses key concepts like the linkage between income distribution and clean energy investments, comparing financing options like PACE programs, unsecured loans, and bank packages. It also covers topics like levels of cost of electricity (LCOE) and progress towards grid parity. The document outlines three papers that will be discussed: addressing financing costs relative to income distribution; financing schemes to reach grid parity; and comparing support schemes and their effectiveness.
The document discusses the Railenergy project, an EU-funded initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency in the railway system. The project has 28 partners across Europe and aims to develop innovative solutions to reduce energy consumption and emissions from infrastructure, rolling stock, and train operation. Specifically, the project seeks to achieve a 6% reduction in the railway system's specific energy consumption by 2020. It takes an integrated approach, working on strategic, operational, and technical levels to identify and validate solutions that can improve energy efficiency throughout the rail network.
IPEEC is a high-level international forum that aims to accelerate adoption of energy efficiency policies and practices through international cooperation. Prime oil guidline- how to become an energy efficient companySameh Radwan
Egypt has seen rapidly increasing energy demand driven by population growth, economic development, and industrialization. It has transitioned from being an energy exporter to needing to import energy. Small and medium enterprises are major energy consumers in Egypt, and there are significant potential energy savings to be achieved through standard efficiency measures in lighting, equipment, and heat recovery. Improving energy efficiency helps reduce costs, increase competitiveness, and support environmental protection as fossil fuel resources decline. This guide identifies key energy uses in industries and suggests efficiency opportunities.

Report summary on Intended Nationnally determined contributions -Comprehensiv...RCREEE
This document provides a summary of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from 20 Arab countries. It finds that these plans outline both unconditional and higher conditional emission reduction targets. Cost estimates total over $109 billion, with 71% of costs listed as conditional on international support. Adaptation actions are generally lower cost than mitigation and focus on sectors beyond energy. Countries' plans emphasize renewable energy development as well as energy efficiency across sectors. Water desalination and carbon capture storage are mentioned in relation to these areas. Overall, the plans indicate ambitions to increase clean energy and jobs while reducing emissions, though voluntary targets may need to become mandatory with regional coordination.
Energy productivity as a new paradigm for sustainable energy transitionsRCREEE
1. Energy productivity is a new policy paradigm that focuses on improving the value obtained from energy consumption through greater energy efficiency, structural economic reforms, and other energy and climate policies.
2. A report by KAPSARC and UNESCWA examined energy productivity in Saudi Arabia and found that diversification efforts and energy efficiency are transitioning the country to a lower energy intensity pathway in line with its Vision 2030 goals.
3. The report discusses how industrial strategy and policy can further increase Saudi Arabia's energy productivity by developing higher value added industries and strengthening local supply chains.
Arab Region Progress in Sustainable Energy Challenges and OpportunitiesRCREEE
The document summarizes the current status of sustainable energy in the Arab region and key challenges. Near-universal electricity access has been achieved in cities, but rural access remains around 80%. Energy consumption has more than doubled since 1990, with renewables playing a marginal role at 4% of energy. Barriers to expanding renewable energy and energy efficiency include high costs, lack of incentives, and insufficient policies. Universal access to electricity and clean cooking fuels has not been achieved. Water scarcity and dependence on fossil fuels are significant regional challenges. Promoting investments, technology, capacity building, and data are priorities to meet development and climate goals.

18. Target group
EUREM Energy Manager Candidates
The energy manager must be a senior manager, who has access to the board, to
identify, design, implement and monitor energy efficiency measures in the
context of a company’s sustainable energy policy. Company culture in the region
makes it some times difficult, if not impossible, for non-senior management staff
to influence decisions.
The role of an energy manager is to create a culture within an organization with
the assistance of employees in all levels, and thereby make energy efficiency a
regular business practice.
Typically EM are Plant- / Utility Managers or Process- / Maintenance Engineers,
pro-active respected personalities with adequate technical background
