2. Brush strokes
When painting a picture , keep your strokes smooth and sharp.
When painting a picture , make sure you move the brush in one direction.
If you use watercolor , make sure to wet the brush if it feels hard while painting.
To blend the colors use a brush and when the paint is still wet , mix them in the
middle to make a gradient effect.
If you want to blend the colors but not to make a gradient effect , put the darker
color(s) in the spots you want them to lay and when they’re still wet blend them
with the lighter color.

3. Picking a photo for inspiration
When picking a photo, look for one with many shadows and realism.
When you want to copy a photo, print it and place it under your piece of paper.
Google is my trusty friend when it comes to picking a photo for inspiration so
Google should help you too with painting.
Landscape and portraits are very good types of photos for inspiration.
Watching a painting tutorial on YouTube is very useful if you’re a beginner.
I like to go for a theme when I paint a landscape e.g Winter, flowers, night time
and many more.

4. Materials
The main materials are paintbrushes, a paint pallet, a 2B sharp pencil, a trusty
rubber, a cup, a painting book depending on what type of paint you’re using and
paint.
I like to use “Mont Marte” materials because they’re cheap but very high quality .
You can use any materials if they’re high quality.
You can also add materials of your own taste and needs like a canvas and easel
like I have both a canvas and easel.
I also suggest buying materials from the thrift store if again they’re high quality
like ones artists gave to the thrift store.

5. Colors
When picking colors, think of your theme and idea eg. Night colors are deep blue,
violet, black and magenta.
Get a packet of paints that have different results of mixing different colors.
Make sure your background is more appealing than the objects surrounding it.
Mix paints carefully because it may turn out too dark or too light like if you want
to make silver or grey be careful with white and black.

6. Washing the paintbrushes
When washing the paintbrushes, wash with a mixture of soap and water then rub
the paint out as much as you can.
Wait until the paintbrushes are feeling super soft and fluffy. Then you’re ready to
go!
You can use the paintbrushes to clean the pallets but I don’t recommend it as it
may damage the paintbrush.
If the paintbrush’s bristles come out, you may have rubbed it too deep so be
aware of that!

7. Washing the pallet
Washing the pallet is exactly like washing the dishes. You can even use a sponge!
Steps to washing the pallet is easy if you know how to wash the dishes but if you
don’t here’s the steps, clean easy and non-sticking parts with your hand, clean the
rest with a sponge and wash with water.
You can also wash it with the method of washing the paintbrushes because they
both leave the pallet looking sparkly in the end of washing. So have fun with
washing!

8. Framing the painting
When framing the painting, leave a white border around the painting so you can
frame it.
Don’t waste money on a frame, instead get one from a store with cheap but high
quality things.
If you want to sell a painting, go on a famous social media app like Facebook,
Twitter or Snapchat and find an artist’s account. Then send them a message about
selling the painting and if you’re lucky, you might be able sell it!
So now you know the tips and tricks of painting, why not get started?
